: Crankshaft Position sensor Re-learning By Dealer

I was on another car site trying to learn as much about crankshaft position sensor replacement and was told that after replacement I would still have to tow the car to a dealer to get them to teach my car to know my new sensor.

I haven't read anything about that on this forum. Is this the case or not.

Nonsense. The sensor is just a magnetic pick-up. The computer either sees its signal or it doesn't. Obviously it didn't see the old one because was no signal. As soon as it sees the new one's signal it will resume ignition and fuel injection.

Thanks Elvin,
I have received the new cps and was going to install next week but thought what the use either tow it now or tow it later to dealer. Feel better now. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks again.
