This looks pretty cool to me.. It updates my navigation to 2007 (a LOT LOT LOT has changed in West Palm Beach since 2004 (when my current navigation disc was made), it adds iPod integration, a backup camera, bluetooth, Sirius satellite radio and DVD playback. Everything will continue to work as is - like OnStar, steering wheel controls, warming chimes, etcetera. When I get a phone call, the stereo lowers so I can catch the call. And since I always have my music playing loud, my current battery operated bluetooth device is worthless since I can't hear the ring. And I'm not crazy about XM, so this will switch me to Sirius. My wife has Sirius in her 300C and I like it much better than XM...

I think this is a very nice upgrade.. Any thoughts?

Avic D3

yup pretty bad ass unit

and itll be pretty plug and play since the advent of the GMOS-04
it will keep your onstar and chimes functional and will plug and play with your factory bose amp
only down side is youll need another interface like the PAC SWIX to keep your wheel controls functional

that said boss they are awesome units and i would of put one in my STS but due to the curvature of the radio it just didnt look right in mine

i say go for it!

I've got a D-3 in my 03 escalade, with b/u camera and 6 dvd player where the 6 disc cd changer was, kept on-star and door chimes, as well as Bose amp. This way, can keep the nav disc in the D3. Have XM, and ipod adapter, but waited 3 weeks for the stereo shop to get the bluetooth adapter, and it never came. Finally go tired of waiting- please report back how easily it picks up your cell phone. Awesome unit! Best for the price by a mile, imo.

Thanks,

Yes, I'm keeping the stereo controls working as well. Considering a backup camera, but - I probably won't do it. I have the rear sensors.. I'll likely be betting all new component speakers and subs as well..

Let me know if you get to keep your fader. I lost the function, something to do with the Bose amp:(

Also curious how the dimmer works with yours, mine's a little wierd, thinking the guys who installed it didn't do it quite right.
