OK...first of all, I need to say that it's amazing what you can determine by actually LOOKING under the hood and under the vehicle for specific problems and/or solutions. I must admit, I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination, but today was a very insightful day.
When inspecting the klankly noise I've talked about, I put the car on a lift and began to wiggle things here and wiggle things there. Come to find out my noise was coming from the rear brake calipers ( sp? ). Once I gave a little tug on them I was able to reproduce the noise that I has been hearing while driving. Not a bad exercise - even for ten-thumbs like me.
I must admit I was a little nervous with all the gadgets and gizmos that I seem to hear the Cadillac name brings - but once you step back and take a little inventory of the car...you realize that it's a car ! And most things - if not all - can be repaired and/or replaced. Just need to relax and take the first step and not get too overwhelmed. - My basic memory of anything mechanical is to remember left to loosen and right to tighten !!
Changed plugs / wires / coolant ( with tabs..) and replaced the oil cooler hoses. Will be working on those calipers next week-end. Not a bad day. No codes, no drips, and no errors ! I've got 96K miles on my vehicle and hoping to get many more...
Does anyone have any ideas of how to re-stuff the bottom of the driver seat ? Mine seems a little lacking...perhaps just a tradtional upholstery place ???
