I had a professional stereo store install a viper alarm/remote start on my 2003 Escalade- it works great, except for one annoying thing. When I remote start it in the evening, the headlights start flashing, and won't stop until I insert the key and press the brake.
I presume only the parking lights are supposed to flash, but at night, the headlights come on automatically, and they all flash.
HELP!!!

actually the same thing happens on my bosses 04 Merch Grand Marques
i think it has something to do with how they bypassed the passkey system (ie they used a programmable box for the correct resistance)
no real way to fix it other than use the older style bypass which requires another key to be cut and hidden in the dash
Thanks.
Guess I'll live with it.

sts03, you need to find the LCM and clean up the mess the installer made.
Parking lights should be on a different wire coming out of the LCM.

The knob won't stay in the "off" position. It automatically returns to the "auto" setting as soon as you let go:confused:

You can't, unless you're in the vehicle. The "off" position is only temporary. It springs back into auto. The three positions are auto, parking lights, and headlights, with a temp position for off, but it's impossible to leave it in "off"
I'll try the sequence- thanks for the link!!!
How do I Disable Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)? (check this discussion for references): (back to the top)
Press the Dome Override button 4 times within 6 seconds and wait for the chime.
Note: This also turns off the Automatic Headlights.
