Are there any listers here who purchased their car brand new?...I guess a new car lease would count also
Based on my analysis of the STS( and the Aurora 4.0 that I just sold)
I have come up with a few figures.....as I recall an STS listed for about $56000 in 2003..a loaded Aurora for about $39000
I think the average discount for a retail sale was $11000 off the STS and $7000 off the Aurora window sticker
The both seemed to have retained the same percentage of resale after 5 years. 28% of the ACTUAL transaction price for a 5 year old car with about 55K
Which makes the market
STS $12,600 Aurora 4.0 $8,960
Which I make the observation...these are some VERY expensive cars...counting the depreciation expense...there are cars out there that were considerably more expensive that you could sell after 5 years of ownership and have actually incurred less expense after the depreciation expense

what I don't know is what they were leasing for?....the basics of leasing say that you are paying for the depreciation and not the car itself over the term of months it is leased...ie cars with high resale have lower lease payments inherently. Although I know manufacturers inflate the residual to move cars and just take the hit when the cars are turned in

anyone know what they leased for..or have leased a new one?
