It's never simple, is it. 2005 Deville, not a DTS.

Ok, I've got what I hope is a correct 2005 CD changer. Now looking to pull the connector into the glovebox. And am trying to get the glovebox out to find the wire and connector.

I've removed the 4 torx screws in the front sides. Also the 2 in the rear. Also the 2 in the top, front. It won't pull out. It seems to be stuck at the bottom front into the dash pad that surrounds the bottom and sides of the glovebox. I've not seen anything else holding it in.

Found by a search, another thread seems to say you first pull the dash pad off by just pulling it forward, as the first step, before removing the torx screws.

Is this correct? I don't want to start breaking screws or others clips, etc out of the dash.

should be an access door at the back of the box to get the plug...

No, there are small holes, which look like they may be cutout to pull the wire thru, but the glovebox is basically solid inside.

has to be a screw holding it then

OK, I'm answering my own question.

There is no additional screw holding it. Remove the 8 Number 15 Torx screws inside the glove box. 2 each side front, 2 in rear, 2 in top front. After this, the box is still being held by the dash.

Then (or first), the dash area around the glovebox, U shaped, (left, right, below) has to be removed. This is a push in, pull or pry off piece of dash. What I finally did was use my trustly dandelion digger. At the top of the left and right U, I pushed this tool into the area near the top, found the clip (there is also a location pin) and twisted forcefully. There then are clips at the left and right bottom which can be pried out. There are 2 or 3 clips across the bottom, forcefully pull the entire piece to get these out, releasing this dash section.

I pulled the light into the box, turned it and pushed it out of the box. I removed the wire to the light switch. This gave the box enough play to move forward and get behind the box and pull the cable loose. It's really jammed in tight. It is also clipped to a support, but I left it attached to this clip. A cutter blade on a Dremmel tool and a hacksaw blade was used to cut a hole in the rear to pull the cable through.

I bought a 6 CD Changer on eBay, advertized as out of a 2005 Deville.

The part number on it is 25740088. Label indicates it is made by Panasonic.

Fortunately it came with the bracket, which wraps around the sides and top of the changer. It has two tangs out the front, with screw holes. These matched perfectly the holes where the two top, front torx screws were removed.

It works just fine in my 2005 Deville. It was recognized instantly, even with the ignition off, when I plugged it in. No 'Theft Lock' problems at all. It tested fine playing all 6 CD's. The ability to play the Single CD which already was part of the factory radio continues. There is now an icon on the radio accessible via the Source button showing a single CD for the single player, a second icon showing a stack of 6 CDs for the glovebox mounted player.

Maybe this will be helpful to someone else.

Thanks for the update. Your answer was helpful for me.
I do have one question though, you mentioned the "U" area around the glovebox. Which sections did you remove using your 'Dandelion" remover method.

Please see my dash image at the following link:

I need to remove the sections to the left and right of the Radio Assembly as I am going to install a console. please let me know which parts I can just simply pry off vs. which items I need to unscrew.

What I removed what the lower, beige colored piece around the glovebox.

Since I didn't know about how to do this, I may not be the best person to ask.

I think the black trim piece around the radio can be pulled off. The radio then has tabs that you push and the radio will pull out. Overall, I would guess the other dash pieces pull off. But I would pull the ashtray out, completely if you can, and carefully look around in there for screws that may be holding this piece on. I think on some cars there are screws in this area

On some Caddys, there are screws in the AC vents that hold the dash on. The vanes can be pulled out, with flat bladed tool pushing in some clips, then you can get to screws in the vents.

Are you sure you can change to a console? Is the bracing behind the dash the same?
