I have an 02 Cartera and it won't start. Took the battery in and it checks good, so am trying to pull the alternator to get it checked as well. Can't seem to find the belt tensioner though. THere was a link posted on alternator removal going to a south-n-auto web site, but it doesn't work anymore. Can anyone help?

Good grief... it's an 01 Catera, sorry. Starts fine with the battery charged, but the battery bleeds down. I'm guessing either a short to ground or a bad alternator.

Clean the battery terminals and check for heat around the positive cable end connecting to the battery.

I don't know if you have a manual but if you don't, this is better than nothing. It's a Vauxhall manual. A little dated but it might help.

Here's something else. It won't help you remove the alternator but it could show you how to fix it.
