how do you know your exact factory paint color? where can you find out?

Look under the spare tire cover for a sticker with 20-30 alphanumeric codes. Those are the RPO codes, deciphered by downloading the list from the top sticky posts "RPO Codes".

The code, at the bottom center of the sticker, which looks something like (basecoat/clearcoat) BC/CC 379U is the factory paint system code and will equate to one of the colors offered for that year.

If you spend some time in Google you'll find the translations also.
