Let me get this Straight > you have a V-6 Saturn engine in your Cadillac?

What Model Caddy do you have it in ? it would have to be a FWD

Nice 97 Eldorado Phil

Nice 97 Eldorado Phil2000 Cadillac Catera.

The Catera has the same engine, but carries differences. its tuned differently for the Catera and has different intake systems, electronic throttle control etc. Pumping out more HP too. The explination for this is that they didnt specifically list the Catera's engine on the powertrain site anymore so I picked that one because it was the same, for proof of the L81 code. Its not made by Saturn, just shared.

Its in a RWD setup for the Catera. The engine was shared with some other automakers as well. Its other name is the X30XE.

-

Also, for another fact... the new CTS's base engine is just a larger version (by .2 litres) of the engine used in the Catera.

Hope this solves your confusion.

Speaking of such:

3.2L V6 in my CTS.

Don't let the small displacement (or humble origins :p )fool you. It's quite quick.

There is a Big difference betweet "Quick" and "Fast" in my books. When your use to 6.6 Litres under your hood some how 3.2 Litres seems quite small in displacement, but i guess it all depends on how "Fast" you want to go :)

I wonder what bbob has under the hood of his Caddy ? Surely not a Stock engine from the Factory...

SoundAdvantage
06-08-04, 05:41 AM
bbob told me he doesn't own a Cadillac  This was a shock to me, but what shocked me even more was when he told me he was driving a Saturn. There goes that 3.2 again, a far cry from any Cadillac, bbob how could you! LOL :drinker

Well so far it looks like there are more Northstar engines under the hood than any of the others. If you haven't voted yet please let us know what your hiding under there, even if it is a 3.2 Litre V-6.

Anyone else know what engine your Cadillac has in it ? Any Northstar engines in older Caddy's ? Does anyone have a different engine than your Cadillac came with originally from the Factory ?

Nice ride man but i would hate to see how much fuel you burn in that 6.0L in a months time.
So far it looks like the Northstar engines dominate the market and probably the streets as well. I see a lot of them out driving around. It looks like the 4.1, 4.5, 5.0 and 5.7L engines are getting fewer as the years go by. I have noticed more RWD Fleetwoods on the streets around here lately.

Dopestar > I like your ride man.

When I am home it's about 125-175 a month to keep me going. Up here at school, I don't use it that often so I've only had 2 fillups here, which is nice cause it's saving me money.

Hey Ralph, what do you drive in the winter? You can't tell me you put that baby out on the frozen tundra with all the snow and salt.

I'm poking along with the Olds 307 in the 89. The 80 has the 368 carbed, and it goes pretty good by comparison. It's time to decide whether I take the 472 or the 500 I have down in the root cellar for a rehab. I'm leaning towards the 472. It's a 70 high-comp, and it's got lots more balls than the 73 500. That 80 is gonna become a wolf in sheeps clothing one way or another.

:histeric: The frozen tundra is a little north of us LOL! However, when I haven't fed the sleigh dog team that I own due to the fact that my igloo door is froze shut, I have a 1980 Pontiac Phoenix coupe with 2.8 L V6 that has never let us down and its been in our family since new. :p

I don't know. Do you consider your cars 'quick'? Or 'fast'?

Because mine is one step up from that. :p

My teeny tiny engine:

2003 Cadillac CTS
3.2L V6 w/ 5 speed auto.
220hp 220ft. lbs. torque
0-60: 6.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.2 @ 90mph

Your monster displacement car:

1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
6.6L 400 V8 w/ 4 speed manual
200hp 325ft. lbs. torque
0-60: 7.8 seconds
1/4 mile: 15.5 @ 90mph

And your other:

1987 Cadillac DeVille
4.1L V8 w/ 4 speed auto.
135hp 200ft. lbs. torque
0-60: 11.7 seconds
1/4 mile: 18.2

Hey, goth, look at the torque ratings. His car will pound it out faster than yours cause he has all that much more torque. Check out www.desertperformance.com. They posted times from a 90's k series chevy that they put a 383 in, and were posting times in the 13 second range. I don't deny that your car is quick though.

I have a couple of different Cad engines!:

2002 Northstar in my 2000 STS 300 Hp, 295 lb-ft!

4.9 liter 200 HP, 300 lb-ft in my '94 Deville

472 with many mods making over 400 HP and 500 lbs-ft in my '79 Deville.

I've also owned one more Northstar, two 425's, and four 500's!

I thought we were talking straight up stock vehicles. Modifieds make no sense because you can make anything barrel down the strip in a straight line if you throw enough money at it (examples are the 1100hp supercharged CTS and 11 second CTS with the GNX engine).

He has all that torque but the numbers for that year 400cid Trans Am is in the mid to high 15 second range. The DeVille isn't even in the league.

You slander the 3.2L like he did below, and you will get called on it. Yes, it's a V6, but it still posts better output and times in it's car than many of the Caddy V8s that came before it.

There goes that 3.2 again, a far cry from any Cadillac, bbob how could you!
