Hello I was hoping to save a trip to the dealer. When I put the brightness of my screen on auto it stays dim much dimmer than when on day mode. Auto mode used to work correctly bright during the day dimmer at night. Any suggestions? Or others with this problem

Just out of curiosity, when it is in auto mode and it is dim during the day, is the background white or black? It should only be white during the day, so if it is white but still dim then you definitely have a problem. If it is black (as if the car thinks it is night), I would suggest checking to make sure the light sensor on the dash is not blocked by something like a radar detector.

have you put it in manual mode and then manually adjusted the brightness to as bright as it can? Then put it back on auto. Its been quite a while but I think auto if I remember just uses your manual adjustments for brightness etc.

I've had the same problem. It comes and goes. Sometimes on a bright day, you can barely see the screen, like it's in night mode, then after a few ignition on/off cycles it comes back to regular brightness and works fine in auto mode for a few weeks. So far it's an annoyance, not enough to get me to take it in to the dealer, but I wonder if it will get worse.

If you live where it gets cold, below 30 then it will be cold for a few minutes until the screen warms enough to get bright. Also adjust the brightness or the way you like it while in manual mode and then put it back in auto mode as auto justs uses what is programed into it in manual.

I've had this car through 3 winters now, and I agree that the cold does effect the screen. When it's below zero, the screen will stay dim for my entire 20 minute commute.

I have no trouble with a dim NAV screen even when it's -45F. Unpredictable screen lighting seems to me to be more related to low sun angles on winter days.
