I've got a question for all you techies out there.

My rearview mirror has the compass/temp display in the right hand corner.
Today while I was driving I noticed a flash of light out of the corner of my eye. Since I was driving I paid it no attention.
This afternoon I get into my escalade and drive off I notice that I have no temp/compass display.
When I touch the spot it is a bit warm to the touch but it doesn't light up.

Does this mean the display is burned out or the temp sender is out?
But does this mean I'l have to get a replacement?

I'm still under the factory warranty..my Escalade is a 2004 with 23K miles on it..
I still have some time under the factory one.

Any information is really appreciated as I will have to plan accordingly to get factory service.

Thanks

I don't know if this will help and mine is a 2000 but if you hit the button for temp on mine it is displayed...if you hit the button for compass...that is displayed...if you hit either one again...the display disappears...could it just have reset it self???...does yours have a button for temp/compass???...try hitting them again to see if the display comes back...if not...your mirror may have shorted out or something...does yours also have the auto dimming feature?...does this still work???...good luck...if not, I believe you will be making a trip to the dealer for a warranty claim...good luck,
Bill

Well, I tried to see what could have gone wrong..
I unplugged the mirror and checked to see if there was any burned contact points..none found..
But, when I plugged the mirror back into the plug..the temp/compass came back on.
Checked with the on/off switch and everything now seems to be working fine..
Damm gremlins..I just bought the extended warranty also on the same day.

Look in your book for how to set the compass for where you live, most are set being in Texas where they are built. :)
