I just bought a 2004 V6 SRX AWD (with Rear A/C and Ultraview) and after joining the forum I checked the jack compartment; standing water.
So it's going back to the dealer for a check, but after reading all the posts it doesn't look like a definitive answer had been found yet.

Join the club,

No, all is not lost. There is a way to fix it right, the dealer has to contact GM support to make sure they understand all the steps to take, make sure they replace your carpet, the jack etc.

This will eventually be a recall, imagine in the middle of winter and your need to change your tire, freeze to death ?

Reading the posts here, I sure checked out my '08 after it sat out in a continuous rain for two days awhile back. No wetness back there.

But I did crawl under the left rear fender, and found one of those rubber drain "udders" for the rear AC, exactly like the one on my 2000 Corvette that clogged with gook from the AC and soaked the front floorboard.
This is a very common problem with Vettes as they get 4-5 years old.
Easy to fix, just find the udder and jam a pencil or screwdriver up in the rubber drain and clean the crud out.

I just wonder, since the SRX rear evaporator is receiving freon and getting cool whenever the front AC is on, even though the rear fan is off, it probably makes a lot of water that collects and drips. I think some of the guys on here that had wetness checked the udder, and found it clear; but it still would certainly be a real good idea to be sure.
Just look up over the left rear tire, it's staring right at you, looks like a rubber hose about 1/2 inch in diameter, with a closed end and a slit in the bottom.

I brought my 05 SRX in yesterday for this problem and they found a leaking washer fluid hose in the rear hatch. I wasn't surprised because I've seen the wiper fluid drain out the door after using it. I've also checked for water leakage after taking through the car wash and never found any dampness. There have been reports of seal leaks on this forum so I'm sure this is a problem with multiple causes.

Hi; I bought my SRX (2004) in July and there was water in the jack compartment. The Cadillac dealership replaced the hatch seal and it hasn't leaked since then. It was covered by my warranty (by Lexus where we bought it) but the charge was outragous so I would suggest you take it to an independent bodyshop if you aren't under warranty.

Dealer sealed the "open" unsealed body seams at the hatch hinges.
There's two, one near each hinge toward the middle of the hatch frame.

Took mine to the dealer today. Time to get a few warranty issues taken care of including the submersible jack (ha)!
Other issues are the backup mirror issue, rear wiper not cleaning, turn signal not always working. tail light LED doing strange things, coolant cap not venting, and clear coat coming of the 18" rims. The biggie however is that the transmission seems to be slow to engage (AWD V8) when cold. It then hunts for the proper gear.
They gave me a nice (sic) 2008 Gran Prix to drive while in. I will report results when complete.

Update:
SRX at dealer since Tuesday. Water in jack compartment linked to rear hatch seal. Replaced.
Car up on jack stands. Dealer (Cadillac) paying to have all 18" rims refinished! This was an excellent surprise.
Will report on the other issues as I get input. Expect to be driving the Gran Prix for the balance of this week. Boy I sure miss the Caddy.

Regards,

Had some of those issues on my 04 as well:
1) Water in the jack department: LIFTGATE WEATHERSTRIP REPLACEMENT - took 2 months to get the parts in.
2) Have the mirror issue, but living with it.. (forgot to get it done before the warranty expired)
3) Various turn lamp/turn signal issues - they replaced the sockets.
4) Rear sprinkler hose replaced
5) some cooleant error messages a few years back.
6) We had the transmission reprogrammed for the slow engage when cold - seems to be better - not really sure as this was a random problem for me.

As annoying as it may feel, none of these issues prevents you from driving and get the issues fixed next time you are at the dealer anyway, so not really a big problem.

Dealer update....
Picked up my SRX Friday evening.
All repairs complete.
Trans reprogramed...what a difference!
New rear hatch seal and trim.
New rear wiper arm.
New tail light assy.
New coolant cap.
Mirror seems to work.
The best.... new 18" rims!!! - reconditioned, but mint.
Sure is good to have it back.

Regards,When you say, "the transmission seems to be slow to engage (AWD V8) when cold, "do you mean when you move gearshift to Reverse or Drive it does nothing? See my earlier post. Have not had it to dealer yet. One day last week it made a load clunk when put in reverse. My wife heard it and when she hears auto gremlin sounds it is loud. Have not had any gear hunting problems.

MC,
It is slooooow to engage. almost a slip in. The dealer update the software. Seema a whole lot better. It has been warmer here as of late. Time will tell. Since it is a CPO vehicle I will take it back if needed.
Will use the forum to post.

OK I've got one for you. 900mi out of warrenty. Last weekend wife calls me and says the rear window wiper and washer won't shut off. She was on her way to Sacramento. When she got back the washer pump was squealing and the was still running. I disconnected the switch but it keep running.
Then I remembered reading something about water in the jack compartment.
Sure enough 2" of washer water in the jack compartment. I tried to dry it but it is totally soaked. I think it is leaking around the pull handle running under the trim and into the jack area. So took it to the dealer this morining and they said well you should have bought the extened warrenty. The estimate is $1500 to remove the carpet!!! I told them they are out of their freaking mind!!
I want to call GM and bitch!! Do I have any chance here to get them to fix this? Who should I talk to?
Thanks
Mike
