: Getting a car listed for movie/commercial work?

Anybody know how it's done? I always thought it would be fun, I'd love to see one of my cars on screen/in photos. I've looked at a couple websites, but they seem a little shady.

I know a member here by the name of Cadboy425 got his gorgeous 1977 Coupe DeVille used by a clothing company to promote a campaign that they wanted to have a Donnie Brasco feel. He hasn't been around in a while though, I'll still send him a PM. He sparked the idea.

I mean, I know movie makers & advertisers are looking for cars, and I want mine used, so how would we get connected? What got me thinking about it again was (don't throw anything at me) the '79 Coupe Deville used in Goodfellas. Recently I found out that it was used a year earlier in another movie called Cookie, starring Peter Falk. Just seeing the same car twice got me thinking; that owner had something cool going. Movies set earlier in time need period correct cars; good looking cars that could pass as new/near new. I want to deliver.

The two sites I found so far are

http://www.movievehicles.com/index.htm
&
http://www.premierestudiorentals.com/

There's got to be other/better agencies out there. These seem like kind of one-horse operations. I guess it would help to be in California (kind of ironic, my Phaeton spent most of it's life in the greater L.A. metro area) But I've heard you can be anywhere.

Is this crazy? No kidding. I mean what the hell, right? It's something I've really thought about.

Ben.

If they aren't filming much in your area it's going to be tough. In the NY NJ Metro area there is always something being filmed.

You might have heard of an HBO series, Sopranos, it's over now but they were all over North Jersey for years, used lots of Cadillacs.

lol, I might have heard of The Sopranos. :histeric:

Anyway, yeah I thought that would be an issue. But on the one site I linked to there were people all over the US *supposedly* getting work for their cars. So I thought there might be hope. The area in which I am currently residing is that last place you'd think of shooting a movie which had anything to do with Cadillacs, or even basic grammatical correctness for that matter...

I've been to TN and I know the lack of grammatical correctness you speak of.:D
