I have experienced high idle speed and thrown code po507 in 2001 deville for the past several weeks. Cleaned T.B. which helped for about two days then problem came back, so I searched the forum and came up with some great advise. I cleaned the IAC valve and tp sensor. Car runs great and idles perfect. Here is the 1,000 dollar question. Is this a band-aid fix? Do these parts really need replaced? (car has 110k on the clock)

If the engine is idling properly now, I doubt it was a band aid fix. Some things like the TB, EGR & IAC tend to get carboned up and need regular maintenance (cleaning).
