(1) I have been reading all the posts about the GMRC-03 harness. I'm missing something. Eveyone is saying to keep the factory HU wired and just bury it in the trunk, how do iI wire the factory HU to the harness as well as the new HU. I would like to keep the wiring as uncut as posible.
(2) I'm replacing all speakers, HU, adding a 5ch amp , and a sub. Is ther a way of hard wiring the new HU to avoid this problem?(don't care if I have a door chime at all)
Thanks,
Dave
run new wires to the speaks
bypass everything
run hu into the trunk and attach the purple data class wires as well as a power ground and ignition wire to it
best way to do it
youll avoid all headaches later like a dead battery, a/c non functional, keyless problems, and alarm issues.
Ok sorry to hijack this thread and beat a dead horse but I've searched and searched and there's a different answer everytime I'm pretty much in the same boat as the OP I just bought a 97 Deville non-bose system and I have a kenwood dnx7100 on the way and I'm reading that some say get this gmrc-03 harness and then I read bypass everything from Cadillacsts2003 and reading most of your audio related posts I'm sure you know your stuff maybe I'm not connecting the dots I understand running new wiring from the speakers to a 4ch amp then running it to the outputs on the receiver but the factory deck if I'm reading correctly run it to the trunk is there a specific reason why it needs to be in the trunk or can I run it to my glove box? Also the purple data class wires can you please explain that I haven't purchased a wiring harness yet I've already taken a peek at the wiring harness but left it alone for the time being, thanks for any help.
on the stock harness there are two purple wires
there are for the data class 2 signal
this is how the car knows the radio exists and is connected
you need keep those wires as well as the ground remote and 12v power wires connected to the hu
were ever you choose to place your stock hu is your discretion
from there tie into the ground remote and 12v power for your new hu and run all new wires from the hu to your speakers
ok sounds simple enough I guess if I run into any issues I'll let you know thank you fr your help I really appreciate it I'm sure you had to answer this multiple times
OK i gotta bump this up again I'm taking everything apart right now the Kenwood was on backorder so instead I got a Pioneer avh 5900 being delivered today but now I feel like an idiot or a noob to installs but I'm looking at the stock harness (now mind you I don't have my new one yet it's being delivered with the deck) but how am I supposed to run these two purple wires and a ground a power wire to my stock hu? Do I leave the harness connected? Man I feel stupid
