2006 STS IG with Nav.
Here is one for you.

While driving home last night I touched the nav screen radio button for an XM station and the radio stopped working. No sound. DEAD! The SRC button did not work, and the on/off button could not turn it off. The band button, all nav functions, and the config functions worked just fine. The speaker screen was available but did not respond. I drove in silence about 15 miles, trying all the buttons, and trying hard not to beat on the screen or the dash.

When I came to a red light I turned off the ignition, and waited a moment, and then turn it back on. All of a sudden I have a radio. Everything worked and was where I set it originally before it went dead. Somewhere there is a gremlin in my Denso. Anybody have any good ideas besides scrap it for a third-party replacement? :violin:

There is a software upgrade that will fix this "rare" screen lockup issue with the Denso units.

Refer to this post:

I had my 2006 STS' software update done at the local dealer recently. My Service Advisor told me that there is a newer TSB 05-08-126-001B (Note the "B" at the end). Your dealer should have the appropriate s/w disk from GM.

Hope that helps.

Yep, happened to me many moon ago. Had several updates since then and have never had the problem again. Although the last update got rid of auto mute when answering a call.

Is it possilble you hit the mute button on the steering wheel. I'm always hitting one of the buttons on the right side all the time though I'm learning after a year, though still a slow learner. I have done that before on rental cars that have the mute button where I wanted to place my hand. By turning off the car you automatically reset it.

What I remember is I was selecting a station on the touchscreen and may have tapped it twice, in fast succession. This may have caused a temporary block somewhere. I tried everything - twisted the two radio knobs, touched every button on the screen. The mute on the steering comes off when you change stations or adjust volumn. In my situation I could not even turn off the radio for the Main TS screen. I could get the nav and the config screens. Really strange.
