Negative on my 06.

Same here. No wiggle as you describe it, but it does flex / move as power is applied.

Well Todd? Will it?:histeric:

Definitely possible . But, the most common side effect is blue barf.

It is wiggly in my 05. I've just ignored it so far. If you have any results with the fix, let me know.

On my '04 it was bad. Adjusted under warranty - HUGE difference since.

I am not a tech, but it looks like this is how you would tighten it.
prying off the ring without breaking it might be tricky
(pic 3)the tabs on the ring are only about 1.6mm. shouldn't take a whole lot of prying

Go jump over to the 08+ CTS forum. A guy there just replaced his and took great photos of the process (easy). I am thinking the design is VERY similar!

I think the thread title says something like "Replaced my shift handle with wood".

My 08 AWD V6 gear shift would move back and forth in drive when the gas was applied. Warranty fixed this and now is solid!

All you have to do is slide down the chrome trim ring on the bottom of the shift knob, be careful not to scratch it or tear the leather.
There is a T-15 screw under the ring, tighten it and then slide the trim ring back into place, it is easy.
If I notice it being loose and I am working on the car I tighten it up. My truck does the same thing and it drives me nutty.
