TSS 12-13-07, 09:24 AM Does everyones shift knob wiggle / twist left to right or is it just mine ? Can it be tightened ? Negative on my 06. c5 rv 12-13-07, 09:44 AM Negative on my 06. Same here. No wiggle as you describe it, but it does flex / move as power is applied. medmarkco 12-13-07, 12:56 PM No twist. Very solid. '05 david1 12-13-07, 01:21 PM ok warranty here I come. If you have any results with the fix, let me know. Northern SRX 12-13-07, 09:58 PM ok warranty here I come. Thanks On my '04 it was bad. Adjusted under warranty - HUGE difference since. GMJim 12-14-07, 12:04 PM I am not a tech, but it looks like this is how you would tighten it. prying off the ring without breaking it might be tricky (pic 3)the tabs on the ring are only about 1.6mm. shouldn't take a whole lot of prying TSS 12-14-07, 12:32 PM Go jump over to the 08+ CTS forum. A guy there just replaced his and took great photos of the process (easy). I am thinking the design is VERY similar! I think the thread title says something like "Replaced my shift handle with wood". GMJim 12-14-07, 12:50 PM yes indeed. good job Todd ArcticAir 12-15-07, 07:25 PM My 08 AWD V6 gear shift would move back and forth in drive when the gas was applied. Warranty fixed this and now is solid! david1 12-17-07, 05:43 AM I will look closer at it Thanks ewill3rd 12-17-07, 08:16 AM All you have to do is slide down the chrome trim ring on the bottom of the shift knob, be careful not to scratch it or tear the leather. There is a T-15 screw under the ring, tighten it and then slide the trim ring back into place, it is easy. If I notice it being loose and I am working on the car I tighten it up. My truck does the same thing and it drives me nutty. david1 12-18-07, 06:50 AM Great Thanks ewill3rd 12-18-07, 06:53 PM Most welcome. ;) david1 12-19-07, 05:58 AM Excellent info., correct torx size, quick fix. Nice and tight now. | |
