I am back! After my 05 CTS-V Nightmare that resulted in a GM Buyback, I have purchased a Certified 05 STS 1SE (I think). White Diamond over Tan, Northstar, Nav, Sunroof, Spoiler etc etc etc etc. This is my 4th Caddy, I think it is an addiction. Anyways I cant get the Remote Start to work. I have an IOU from the dealer for the Owners Manual that wasnt included. Is there a certain procedure for starting or just press the button? Also, has anybody painted the hideous gray plastic on the rear bumper and if so how much did it cost? I would also love to purchase a set of the 18" wheels that come with the 1SG package if anybody has a set or is willing to swap for my 17's plus some dough. Look forward to all the helpfull info I have gotten in the past here on the forum. Jim LoMonaco.

Press the lock button 1st, then press and hold the start button for about 3 seconds

Yep. The parking lights will flash with the lock command, then press the start button. The small clear lights inside the headlights will light up when the car is running. After you get in you need to press the start button on the dash before driving off.

Also, the instructions are on the back of the key fob - really. You just need a 1000X magnify glass to read!

Not on mine. 06 STS. Mine tels me the Fob #, GM /S 15212383, FCC ID M3N65981403, IC 267F-65981403, BATT CR2032. Nothing even remotely about a remote start.

By the way, the remot strt works great. Even the seats are warmed up.

There are two things:

1- There is a switch in the glove compartment that eliminates the remote start, used for people who don't want to have the remote start enabled.

2- Make sure you key is programmed and battery is operating correctly.

To enable remote start, you hit lock twice then hold down the start button for approx. 3 sec. or until it starts.

Let me know how it works out!

Ok then, my bad. I know it is on the DTS remotes and the Lade remotes.

On mine (with the nav system) the 'on' switch is set in the Vehicle set up section using the nav screen. It will also ask if you want the clim control system and or heated/cooled seats to activate with the remote start.

^^^^ Correct.

I still can't figure out when the heated seats turn on. Some times they do, sometimes they don't. I think it has to be a certain temp or below for them to kick on.

Mine have been turning on recently only when the car has been outside in the cold for a while....don't know the exact temp, but it seems that when it is below freezing the bun toasters are activated.

It seems the dividing line between bun toasters or no bun toasters on my car is about 40 degrees F. Seems to always put them on medium.
