View Full Version : What will the first aftermarket CTS-V Gen II mod be? HiTechRV 12-11-07, 09:53 AM For the first mod you can buy, I am betting on a pulley upgrade to take the stock SC to redline when the engine hits redline. Historically GM has left some boost on the table for quiet idle. In some GM cars you can do this without even an ECU adjustment or belt change. I have a 10,000+ ppsi puller sitting in the garage just waiting to be put to use again.
What do you think the first aftermarket mod will be, and who will offer it? gothicaleigh 12-11-07, 10:12 AM Eyelids by 8th Day Creations http://www.8thdaycreations.com/images/gothicaleigh/gothiraspberry.gif

Yeah, I would have to agree on the pulley swap if the car is indeed supercharged as it appears to be in recent spy photos. Pretty easy for just about any performance aftermarket company to fabricate, so the first to offer it could be anybody. Slapshot 12-11-07, 11:32 AM How about exhaust? B & B? Magnaflow? Corsa? I'm still not convinced the car is supercharged after seeing those photos. the STS-V and XLR-V carry "SUPERCHARGED" badges. This '09 V did not, during it's photoshoot. ZEUSROTTY 12-11-07, 02:41 PM Thats because they arent letting you know the engine yet... Thats because they arent letting you know the engine yet...
Those pictures weren't official images. They were spy shots. The spy photographer caught the car while it was getting it's official pictures taken... When those official pictures are released, so will all the details. ZEUSROTTY 12-11-07, 07:39 PM When I put the deposit down, the GM said that they all got to see the car. But wouldnt say what engine it had. Wouldnt say tranny. Or options. They said they are still deciding on motor. When They know they will get me a build sheet and go from there. And those pics arent spy shots. Thats a release to a magazine to stir up the hype on the new car. Just like they do with video games, apple iphones and any other big releases. Spy photos dont get those kick ass angles, unless they are taken purposefully. Caddy is just getting the wheels in your head turning. Dont get it twisted... My stepdad is a retired ad exec for GM. If you say so.
Why is there some professional photographer lying in the trunk of a Buick Enclave photographing it up close then? HiTechRV 12-11-07, 09:34 PM BS on the reports of still deciding the motor - that was done long ago. The letters LSA come to mind, and there is no way you are getting M performance from a stock 6.2 without a supercharger. The LSA NA would be in the 425 hp range when cammed for a 4000 lb car. Now some last minute tweaks to the hp of a SC LSA? That is difficult but doable before production (lots of calibrations to redo). But the drama of a pending engine decision builds hype ;-) so it's all good.
Back to the topic, I think exhaust is a good possibility - maybe even eyelids. I would not mind some blackout or gun metal mesh. ZEUSROTTY 12-12-07, 12:54 AM If you say so.

because they do a shoot for them and there real debut and one to release to the mags.
The GM I had talked to saw the V 2 months ago... So yeah, I am sure they know what motor is going in now... because they do a shoot for them and there real debut and one to release to the mags.

I'm sorry I don't quite understand what you're trying to say there...
The professional photographer in the Buick is doing a shoot, yes. Who is it for? The magazines? For the debut? Either way, the pictures would be of a production model. When the pictures are sent to the magazines it goes along with details and an embargo. Can't be published until the embargo is lifted, correct?
My understanding is that these pictures are taken with a long range zoom lense by a spy photographer who caught GM doing a photoshoot. Those were obviously shot from long range with a huge zoom lense. Just look at the lack of detail in the grille.
So tell me, the guy lying in the Buick taking close up shots, what is he taking pictures for? thebigjimsho 12-12-07, 06:21 PM Even if the pictures are for release, badges and finishing trim can vary from that time to showrooms. They are still moving shots... If they didnt want them released, they would have tight enough security there, so that some dude with a two foot lense wouldnt be able to just snap pics. The angle on those pics say that they were on the side of the track near the car, For all to see. Unless 007 was there?
Nevermind... You dont get it. You are right. They are SPY PICS They are still moving shots... I have re-read your posts many times and still don't know what you're trying to say. I've asked you questions trying to clarify but no response.
My question to you is who is the guy in the Buick? A photographer for GM, right? Who is he taking pictures for? Where are those pictures?
My understanding is that you think he's taking pictures to send to magazines to hype up the car. By the time those pictures get published wouldn't the car have already been unveiled with all the details? It's mid December. The car is slated for debut in January. You're telling me it's mid December and GM is still snapping photos of a '09 CTS-V that's not finalized yet? Shouldn't all the badging be on it already? Wheels will be the first mod but the ecu cracking will be the best mod. From what I understand, this thing may be de-tuned. If that's the case, ECU mod's. The photographer in the buick is probably shooting for magazine release also. But they also release other pics to create interest on an up and coming model, and call them spy photos. Giving them some kind of credability as a first on the story rag.
My answer then, is that he is a photographer of some sort... And he probably uses his camera to take pictures.
And If GM doesnt want you to know it is supercharged yet, they obviously wouldnt put badging on it yet to tell ya... Wouldnt you think that an automobile photographer would be able to let on whether its supercharged or not? Yeah... I think so.
So are we to believe this guy was just walking around a private track or otherwise, with a huge ass lense on his camera, for a shoot on a car that is "under wraps"? And couldnt here the whine of a supercharger or the lack of one? Cmon... They just arent telling you yet. barry007 12-12-07, 10:55 PM Wheels will be the first mod but the ecu cracking will be the best mod. From what I understand, this thing may be de-tuned. correctomundo..this thing will be capable of some serious power with aftermarket help. I've heard of the "standard LSA SC package" running in the 670+hp range on the dyno before it starts to eat itself. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/images/smilies/ignore.gif :canttalk: lawfive 12-13-07, 02:14 AM grassy knoll. full stop.
