: 2001 Catera won't idle properly

I have a 2001 Catera with 90,000 mi. It started to die at stop lights, set a while then start. I started it tonight and left it idleling. After a minute or so it will die. Any opinions? I appreciate it!

Is the CEL on? What's the mileage? When was the last time you gave it a tune up?

90,000 miles; never had a tune up; I don't know what the CEL is.

CEL= Check Engine Light

I would suggest doing a tune-up. Plugs/wires, Filters, Oxygen Sensors and whatever else the car needs.

My car started doing the same thing around the 90k mark.

Thanks. It sounds like the tune up is expensive. Any estimate on cost?

Mine did that and it was the crankshaft positioning sensor. It got to the point where it would die as I drove...

Yea, it did that a couple of days ago. I was driving along at 55 and the engine just shut off. How expensive was the repair?

a few times ago I ran diagnostics at the shop and they found out that crankshaft position sensor needs to be replaced and they wanted 400$ for that.
I did this by myself.
