I just purchased a '04 SRX. It has the factory dvd as well has Nav in the head unit. It did not come with XM radio. Now here is my problem, I want to install Sirus and I have gone to two different places (Circuit City, as well as a local Radio shop) and they say they cannot do it. IS there any way to have Sirius Radio directly connected to my SRX?:(

Thank you, I maybe should have been a lil more specific. I need to know if I can get Sirius Directly installed instead of a receiver that uses the FM modulator. I already have two radios one thats directly connected in another car and one that I use at work that is a starmate, and there is no comparison in the sound quality

I just installed my 3rd Sirius a few weeks ago (not in the SRX) If you have a input jack - then you can directly plug the Sirius (or XM) standalone unit directly into the auxilery jack. You will still need to hookup the power and seperate antenna. The new units when using the FM modulator SUCK. You would then need to add the direct FM antenna (a "T" connection with the normal antenna.) I added this to my new Sirius - now results are outstanding and better than the previous FM modulator only. The newer units put out much less FM power because the FCC cracked down on them.

I will be adding the SIR-GM1 in the next week to my 04, that is the way to go.

Telemon24,

Be careful on this. Research prior posts to decide what approach to take. I also wanted to install Sirius in my SRX...premium audio, no nav, no factory XM (each of these factors may be a branch on the decision tree that determines your best option). At the time, it appeared to me that there was no way to fully integrate Sirius with the factory radio. By fully integrate, I mean things like (1) no visible hardware, (2) ability to use radio presets, (3) ability to scan/seek/tune using radio controls on the steering wheel.

I installed a XM direct package behind the center stack and had the dealership reflash the radio (50 or 60 bucks) so that it would recogize the XM receiver and give me the two bands of XM presets. Works just as if the car came from the factory with XM. Actual installation was very straightforward. Had to give some thought to how to elegantly and securely install the hardware (boxes and cabling) beind the center stack, and where best to mount and route the wire for the external xm antenna.

As I said, lots of information on this topic is available through several prior posts which can be found through the search engine.

If you have RSE then the SIR-GM1 will work, if you don't have RSE then you need to add wires but still easy.

This is a walk in the park compared to the LUX NAV upgrade in the Sierra.
