Hey all,
I am a new member to this site. Just wondering if there are any avid deer hunters that got their trophy buck this season. I am from Michigan and there were a few decent ones taken. The biggest was a 14 pointer. I personally didn't get one.

No bucks, but my aunt got a few does. Grandpa didn't take anything.

14 pointer? Ahhhh, that's right...you easterners count each and every point, eh? :D A 14 pointer up at the ranch in Oregon would be the size of a buick!

Saw this guy the day before opening. Crappy picture, but you can see he's got a decent rack. We got him about 10am the next morning. :D
The next one is a baby that was with a bunch of does that we came on a couple of days in.

I missed the biggest deer I've ever seen last year. I only go deer hunting very so often. I went on a great European style pheasant hunt this weekend, with 17 of my buddies. We killed 146 birds. This operation is the largest in the country. They hatch 37,000 pheasants every month! :D

More about the good friends and beer after the birds, ya know? :) I drive twelve hours each way to the hunting grounds for just that reason. My dad flew in from Kentucky this year and some drove twice as far as me just to get to the Ranch. Not so much about the hunting as it is about the people and the good times.

But, then again, another guy I know that just moved to one of the Dakota's spends most of his year flying around the world for various game. Argentina for Dove was one of the ones he really liked, took his teenage daughter and had a helluva time!

My last moose had a 74" antler spread and was 748lbs of meat cut and wrapped.

Any comparison on taste or is moose totally its own flavor? I'd love to try some... *hint hint*

A good moose is like lean beef. Bad moose on the stove smells like somebody peed on a steam pipe. I was raised on moose and I thought beef tasted funny. I haven't been moose hunting for quite a while. There isn't enough snow in the hills yet to drive the moose into town. Usually there are at least a couple that winter in the neigborhood. The wolves have been eating the pet dogs around the suburbs. People go out in the morning to feed old Bowser and all there is on the end of the chain is a bloody spot and a chunk of the collar. One guy saw a wolve go by his house with his dog in his mouth. He chased the wolf down and got him to drop his dog and it came out alive. Now that's a Lucky dog.

My boss is a lifetime member of this hunting club and he's the one that invited me. It was $330 per person and he paid for 15 guys to hunt as a Christmas gift. Last year I got a stethascope from him....I liked this better. :D In fact we all had such a good time he booked the next two years. :bouncy: IIRC the owner said they're booked 2 years out.

The pics of the dead deer were great to see. The season should be much longer so there are fewer to hit on the hwy!!

"One shot. The deer has to be taken with one shot. I try to tell people that..they don't listen.."

Anyone else remember that line from a well known movie?

What is the big attraction to killing harmless animals with guns?. It dont make you tough, quite the opposite actually. I'd rather be at the beach. :canttalk:

In that scene in DeNiro's house, before the wedding, the dialogue is between DeNiro and Walken.

One of my all time favorite movies.
