View Full Version : windshield wipers need replacing but I cannot find replacements commander112 12-03-07, 12:23 AM I went to replace my wife's wipers today and found that they are different than others I have seen. I know Bosch does not make any that fit the arm on our '06. Who makes replacements for our STS? Thanks.
Mark ewill3rd 12-03-07, 06:27 AM I haven't seen any aftermarket replacements.
You'll likely have to drop by a Cadillac store.
I don't even know if the aftermarket knows about the frameless blades yet. I went to replace my wife's wipers today and found that they are different than others I have seen. I know Bosch does not make any that fit the arm on our '06. Who makes replacements for our STS? Thanks.

May I suggest http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?PartType=326&PTSet=A I spent alot of time tracking down this one.
Advance Auto Parts (the link above) carries the Trico NeoForm WIPER BLADE NEOFORM 21 IN TRIC part number 162113 for $16.96, and the Trico NeoForm WIPER BLADE NEOFORM 22 IN TRIC, part number 162213 for $17.77. Free shipping on orders over $50.
Interestingly the Toyota Avalon 2005 up uses a similar looking blade. rippypartsmaster 12-03-07, 12:50 PM Anyone ordered the Trico blades yet? There's no picture to verify that they're the correct design. great post Benjamin Simon 12-03-07, 09:29 PM I have the Trico blades and I really do not care for them. The OEM seem to last over a year. The Trico blades came apart in 6 months. Maybe I was expecting too much. commander112 12-03-07, 10:54 PM Thanks guys. Oddly enough, the car will need to go to the dealer tomorrow for a blown out rear window! I'll buy the wipers there.
Mark dkozloski 12-09-07, 03:13 AM Go to NAPA. brewhaha9th 12-20-07, 12:50 PM Just purchased some blades from GM Parts direct.

GM PART # 88958359 $15.08
GM PART # 88958361 $15.08
Total price w/ shipping $44.43 (came within days of order) cadillacpartsusa.com is another good option, great prices. Purchased Michelin wipers at Costco. They were about $12 each and fit perfectly and work great. MARKVIII 01-23-08, 08:47 AM i had to bring my car over for warranty work today and they wanted $38 each for the blades. so i just bought them threw the GM parts website. thanks for the heads up..they also said one of my rear tires is getting a little thin and quoted me $350 for replacement. i think i will get a new set of rears from sears or costco and save about $400. then i bought a bottle of touch-up paint for $13. my god Cadillac got some fancy number. I looked all over Costco for wiper blades. Could not find them. Where did you see them at Costco? justgreat 01-24-08, 12:11 PM my experience with aftermarketblades versus oem is to stay with the oem...they will last longer and perform better than a one size fits all.
one piece of advice for your current, worn blades: take some rubbing alcohol on a cloth and clean the blade's swiping edge. then take a razor blade knife or an exacto blade and run either perpendicular to the wiper blades a few times. this will restore the blades to almost new; you will definitely see a vast improvement in their wiping action.
another trick to keep your blades in good operation and extend their life, take the bladesoff the car, otherwise it can get messy, and spray silicone lubricant on the blades and let them sit 15-20 mins...wipe off any excess and reinstall....new blades for a few pennies.

06sts6 Kalvin101 01-28-08, 05:42 PM Looks like the Trico ones were the only ones I could find without OEM.
Will definitely be going back to OEM; the Trico's adapter doesn't lock into the wiper arm as nicely as the OEM one, and doesn't hold on to the window nearly as well as my oem ones.I'm even thinking about ditching them and getting oem ones even though these are new. Trico ones are whack! |
