My apologies if this is the wrong page on this site to post this, but I'm new here.

My parents bought a Sedan DeVille new in 1984, and because of the recent passing of my father, we're selling it.

A few bits of info:
One-owner only
Garaged--never seen one night out of the garage
16,500 original miles
Baby blue (not sure of actual name), original paint, perfect condition
Baby blue top (again, perfect)
Darker blue leather interior
Original wire wheels
Power everything
I think it's the HT4100 engine

The car was bought as a go-to-church family car, but it pretty much has sat in the garage (see the mileage!) forever. It truly looks like new.

1 year ago, had a thorough check by our trusted mechanic, including an A/C recharge/check, new battery, belts, etc. The oil is new. I'm going to wax it and detail it, even though it's pretty much perfect, just to be sure.

I'll take pictures this week. But I wanted to find out--where the heck do I start with finding what this thing is even worth? Blue book is useless because of the crazy-low mileage and incredible condition.

I'll post more as soon as I have more details. I know it has auto-leveling, power seats, power windows, door-sill lighting, etc. It's a pretty color, too.

Anyway, I tried to find the original window sticker, with no luck. We have all the original keys, including the Gold Key stuff.

We need to sell sooner rather than later, so if you have ANY interest, or any tips, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you on here.

Thanks, and I'll be in touch--

First of all, welcome to the forums. As enthusiasts here, we would actually like to see you keep the car since what your describing is so nice. It will only appreciate in value from here on in.

But if you're going to sell it, I suggest you put it in the classified section here and/or put it on eBay. However, your car sounds so nice that I would send it to the Barrett-Jackson auctions and fetch top-dollar. On eBay or an equivalent, I'd expect anywhere from $6500-$10K. If you're going to the BJ auctions, I'd expect somewhere around $15K if not higher. We can really evaluate the car if you post some pictures. Original wires are a real plus, but the HT4100 was a real dog, but since most likely a collector will be owning the car, the engine will impact the sale price less.

Good luck w/ the sale! I still say keep it, though.

Yeah...We defineatly need some pictures (interior and exterior) and your location. I would ballpark it to be worth about $5000....realisticly.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll try to post pics tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. It's truly in perfect condition cosmetically, and while I need to confirm a few things, mechanically it's pristine as well (all options are working...just not positive WHICH options is has).

$5000 is probably a bit low. Blue Book is $3500 or more. But that's for something with 80,000 miles or more, I would imagine (as would be normal for a car of this age). We'll see. Anyway, I'll post pics. Any tips on resources for finding similar cars for sale would be very much appreciated.

I'd love to keep the car, of course, but (a) it's not mine, it's my mom's. And frankly, she doesn't really need it or want the hassle of upkeep. I do, however, want to find someone who really wants/needs a car in this fine condition.

I always try to be optimistic as I've seen some crazy prices at the BJ auctions. But now that I think about it, those are all coupes, convertibles, and big block machines. $8500 would be right in the mid-range of prices for you. Bidding wars jack up the prices, but folks probably won't go as all out as say an '84 Eldo conv. Just don't go off blue book as they not only undercut the value, but also look at the car as transportation and modern-day practically, not collectability or aesthetic value like the pleasing gleam of chrome. Gas milage and airbags is about all they look at.

Anyone interested in this? The sale effort was put on hold, but we're back at it, looking to move it relatively quick.
