what'd up everyone,

Let me first start off saying do i have bad luck or what? They're all little problems like my drl light is burnt out, button on radio worn out and brakes and rotors need to be replaced.

And now a dent on my lower rear passenger door and a sratch on the rocker panel (2 inches long). My boss threw a foot long 2x2 piece of wood which bounced and hit the floor, then my car. I went to claim it yesterday and it is $1300 for everything (paint, labour, materials, etc) The claim guy said its a bit costly because of the paint. It has pearls in it and they would have to blend it in. Not quite sure but yeah no problem. Boss paying for it.

Is it really that costly to fix it? I also have a crack in my front bumper and I wanted to fix that which is 4 times worse than this one. What's up with this wacked pricing? :cookoo:

I live in Surrey and thanks for the tip on Coast2Coast. I'll remember that when I'm getting new rims.

Im getting my paint job done at Preston Cadillac (beside Willowbrook Mall) and I was wondering. Is there a difference between Coast2Coast and Preston?:hmm:

The clear bezel is that thing in the back near your licence plate. All the 03's and the early 04's have the clear bezel. You can get a color matching one replaced under warranty.

I was wondering will there be a difference in a paint job between a cadillac dealership or a local body shop?

My door has damage at the bottom so i need to fix that then do the paint job. The caddy dealership said $1300 for the sheet metal, paint, material, labour, etc. I want to know will the local body shop do the exact same work and lookness as the caddy dealership (since they made our cars they should know how to fix and paint it)?

just itrying to save a few bucks.......

thanks for you thoughts

Wholesale price of paint for a CTS silver bumper = $450 plus parts plus labor plus actual painting.

We can all thank the tree lovers who did this; they must be related to the lady who forced the freon-recapture machine on garages. Used to cost about $4000.

That machine sure killed the $7.00 a/c diagnosis.

in the last three years, I've had two Cadillacs and a Nissan Altima that had to have "minor" up to major work. There's no such thing as 'minor' damage anymore. The basic costs are too high. It's sad that the days of a quick, small area touchup are over. In order to match paint colors, the whole panel usually has to be done. That turns a small scratch into the equivalent of a hole in the panel, in terms of repair. I have found one way to get around part of it. There's a nationwide franchise called Bumper Rescue. They do spot repairs and and if their tech is trained, can remove small bumps and dings for very reasonable prices, without body work. Their focus is on bumpers, but the one I've used did some ding removal for very reasonable cost. See if you can find them or someone like them. Oh, by the way, the tech also did a repair of one of the outside storage cabinet doors on my motorhome. I used him because he was so good at matching paint color. It's a virtually invisible repair on a large, two, color panel. That involved doing some fill and surface prep before painting on fibreglass.

That is really an unanwswerable question. It all depends on the PERSON doing the work.
