I installed a SIR-GM1 to replace my XM radio. I am using the XM ant that came on the car ( 2006). It was a Sunday when I intalled it, couldn't get an adapter so I spliced the SIR plug onto the XM antenae wire ( I did a neat job, but yeah I know!) anyway, reception seems very good with few dead zones up here in heavily treed mountain roads. There is however a problem with the left speakers. Right side works perfectly, the left is kinda staticky, garbled and way less volume ( only on SIR everthing else is normal).
What do you guy's think? Bad SIR unit? XM ant won't work with SIR? Spliced lead no good? I'm kinda screwed now, don't even have the stock SIR ant to try 'cause I cut the plug off. Your help please.

Thanks.
Don

Holy shit man!! My SIR-GM1 does the SAME EXACT thing! I have been puttin off taking it apart. I figured it was just a loose wire.

Probably more than that.... damn I got no idea now :(

Yeah, I did. I wonder if that could cause it. You go out and try yours with the sirius antenna. If it works, I will change mine too!! LOL!!

Nope, its not the antenae that's causing the problem. the box must be no good! When its running there is a flickering light coming from where the main plug goes in, can't be right.

Hey, Did yours ever work well?? Do you know of anybody that has one that is working properly? Mine was no good right from the get go. I bought it new on ebay, my local guy here sez they don't make them anymore and won't help ( I did ask him to get me one before I bought on ebay) Ebay guy has not returned my email yet, I'm not surprised. Sirius tells me to go to the local rep.
Hmmm... I've flown this circle before! I'd even buy another if I thought it would work.

Sounds like a bad unit.......Could be a wire inside the SR unit that is causing it, or a loose connection....is it able to be taken apart? Maybe a bad circuit board....but definetly a bad unit....Maybe thats why they stopped making them, they couldnt get it to work right..... ;)

I know this doesnt help....but thats all I got for ya

I found the problem! In the installation instructions, it sez to switch the black and white wires in the interface cable for CTS installations only. I did exactly as it showed. I just reversed it back to original and it works perfectly.
Flocking Bastiches!!! I wonder where they came up with that B.S.
Anyway its good to go now.

Thanks.
