View Full Version : NAV DVD DISK Hand-me-down. dkozloski 11-29-07, 10:52 PM I would like to start a new forum feature where those that receive a new NAV disc pass their old ones on to those less fortunate than themselves. I have an STS ver.3.00 disc that I'll mail to the first guy that wants it. First guy to answer up wins. AllWheelEric 11-29-07, 10:58 PM Here's an answer: Thanks!
So if all goes well, I'll have a version 2 to hand down. dkozloski 11-29-07, 11:02 PM We have a winner. PM me your address and I'll get it in the mail. AllWheelEric 11-29-07, 11:10 PM You've got mail! Thanks again. Benjamin Simon 11-30-07, 10:20 AM Is it possible to make a "personal back up copy" in the event the original gets damaged? AllWheelEric 11-30-07, 11:55 AM Yes. The v2.0 disc is a dual layer (9 GB) disc. rippypartsmaster 11-30-07, 01:22 PM Is it possible to make a "personal back up copy" in the event the original gets damaged?
Probably, just like you can copy any other dvd.
In America, however, that would be a violation of the DMCA.
Personally, I think that should be covered under 'fair use' AllWheelEric 12-01-07, 01:37 PM I don't really think that making a backup violates DMCA and I do believe making a backup is a fair use. There is no encryption hacking required to copy the Cadillac DVD (at least this was true on my version). DMCA only makes it illegal to crack encryption, as when copying a DRM-protected movie DVD. Two words... Bit Torrent. rippypartsmaster 12-03-07, 09:05 AM I don't really think that making a backup violates DMCA and I do believe making a backup is a fair use. I just assumed that it was encrypted. Interesting. AllWheelEric 12-05-07, 07:54 PM Attention 2005 STS drivers! Check your NAV disk. If you are using a V1.00 disc, let me know. I have a V2.00 disc to hand down, thanks to the generosity of dkozloski. I wasn't sure if that was a request from Benjamin, so I'll give him first dibs.
Eric Benjamin Simon 12-05-07, 11:16 PM v 2.0 would be great. 1.0 does not even have my house! You are my hero! dkozloski 12-06-07, 12:03 AM In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king. AllWheelEric 12-06-07, 09:58 AM Benjamin, please PM me your postal address.
Thanks,

Eric eightshb 12-08-07, 06:38 AM I could use version 2 AllWheelEric 12-08-07, 02:31 PM I have already mailed my V2.00 disc to Benjamin. Just bought an 07 STS that came with 3.0.
Is 4.0 out? Any thoughts on where I might be able to obtain a copy? dkozloski 01-03-08, 11:45 PM Just bought an 07 STS that came with 3.0.

I do have time to stop by a mailbox, UPS, of Fedx. I'll take it... PM me your address and I'll send you a pre-paid mailer. dkozloski 01-11-08, 10:38 PM If you use the right bubblewrap mailer it'll go at the lowest rate; $1.98 to zone 8.
I'm proud to see that the Hand-me-down deal is still going. It looks way better than Cadillac owners abusing each other. bigdog9586 01-12-08, 08:50 PM I PM'd you with my address.
