I have a 1979 Sedan Deville with the 425.
The blower is working,
"I hooked it direct with a togle switch for now" but the air coming out of the floor, and defrosters is only warm, not hot. Not even warm, more like a warm/cool!
I checked the antifreeze, and it is full and clean. I checked both heater hoses goin to the heater core, and they are both hot.
When I slide the lever for the defrost, to floor etc...I can here vaccuum, and a slight "flap". And it switches from top to bottom, but the air coming out will not get hot, just lightly warm.
Any ideas?
I didn't want to rip open the dash or anything, till I knew what too look for!
Thanks in advance for any advise on this!

Anyone have any ideas at all? Somewhere that I can start on, and check?

I just noticed something. The upper rad hose is hot. The lower hose is "warm". Is that a sign of a bad thermostat?

If you haven't flushed your coolant system in a more than two years it's time to, and replace it. The only way to check your thermostat is to remove it and heat it in water to it's stamped operating temperature and see if it opens. I would just replace it. If you aren't getting hot air to move around the dash sounds like a vacuum problem. The ball canister/vacuum line systems can leak, and fail. You may have a vacuum leak leading to the cool gremlins:lildevil: in your dash. I would start there.:yup:

Thanks! I popped the thermostat out, and well......it came out in two pieces...LOL
Guess it was bad!
Put a 195 in, and instant heat! Whatta difference!

there is no way both heater hoses were hot with a thermostat stuck open. first of all if both heater hoses were hot then you would be getting heat unless you had a blend door problem.
