So i bought an 03 cts, had it for 3 weeks when the engine died. It has been at the dealership now for a month while they rebuild the engine. So im paying my monthly car payment for a cts but im driving some crappy cobalt that they gave me... which by the way i have to pay 5 dollars a day, so im up to about 150 im going to have to pay... whats the deal with lemon laws and what im entitled to, i live in NJ and the car had 39000 miles on it when it went in to the shop.

Lemon Law is for new Vehicles. Your issue would be covered under Used Car Warranty. Yes, probably they won't give you that great of a Rental Car. On the plus side, once the Engine is rebuilt the vehicle should run STRONG..

Entitlement??? What planet do you live on?

Watch Judy Judy; she will explain.

Not from Memphis, are you. People there always demand entitlement.

I know this about the lemon law, You wont be able to lemon an 03 cts in the year 2007. Consider yourself lucky that the engine work is being done under warranty and you have a loaner to get you around.

While the posters are correct--you can't file a lemon law claim against GM for this car due to its age, there comes a point where you question if your car's value is diminished as a result of this problem and the subsequent repair. You do not mention if you bought this car from a Cadillac dealer or who is fixing the car. If you bought this from a Cadillac dealer and you have a GM warranty, you may be eligible for soem resource udner a Federal law known as the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. This applies to cars that have a manufacturers warranty and have substantial repairs during the warranty period but outside of the lemon law parameters. Look at the following websites for more info:

www.lemonlaw.com
www.lemonlawamerica.com
www.nationallemonlawcenter.com

If a firm does help you, there is no cost, because like the lemon law, the mag moss act provides free legal representation.

Safe driving. I hope you get your car back soon.

Yes, bumblebee good advise.
I question whether the car was a CPO from a Cadillac/GM dealer because around these parts if you buy a 2003 from Honest Abe's Used Cars and the engine seizes you might be SOL without a decent warranty.
Need more info on this incident....

Did you get a warranty on the vehicle that covered the engine etc. and is it being replaced under warranty?
