Does anyone have any good experience with extended warranties. My factory warranty runs on in June, or in 8k miles, and have been considering getting one.

My factory warranty runs on in June, or in 8k miles, and have been considering getting one. jduda 11-27-07, 04:45 PM Have not had to use the cadallic extended warranty as yet, but the warranty that I purchased for my Olds has been a real blessing. I payed $1200 for the warranty and so far this warranty has covered $3200 in repairs. I use the local GM dealer and there has never been question or balk at paying. z06bigbird 11-28-07, 12:09 AM Never seen this question before. Right. You can do a search here. Basic gist of search: 1. Buy a GMPP from a preferred vendor, and you will pay about 60% of retail. Buying it after 12,000 or 24,000 miles will result in a higher cost. 2. GMPP is transferable. I bought mine so that when I am ready to sell car in a couple of years, new potential buyers will have a comfort level. Should help sale of car immensely. 3. In my opinion (and others), stay away from aftermarket warranties. Too many fold, and you are stuck with no option. Too many restrictions, and too many loop holes. 4. You can take an aftermarket warr contract and show it to any service manager at any car dealership (any brand). He/she can show you the specific problems with the contract you might have in front of you. Don't forget the donuts or tacos. Courtesy is contagious. Baatfam 11-28-07, 07:34 AM 1. I'm at 21.8K and would like to pick up an extension soon... (Sorry...I know I could search, but this thread is right here...) Bob T. | |
