View Full Version : Homelink guinness 11-26-07, 11:55 PM Hello everyone,
hope some1 has answer for me. My CTS 07 doesn't have homelink. Is it possible for me to install one? and if yes than how :)
thx,
guinn Yep. Buy a sunvisor from the CTS that does come with the homelink.
My dad found one on eBay for his CTS.
If you can't find it used, I'm sure Luke @ Lindsay Cadillac could get you a decent price. guinness 11-27-07, 01:10 AM great thx jon,
i found couple on ebay. Do you know is there any additonal wiring required? Do you know the price for new one? Not sure about the price of a new one, but there should not be any additional wiring required. ewill3rd 11-27-07, 06:22 AM If you have a lighted vanity mirror on your current visor, then no additional wiring is required.
It should be plug and play.
Some production ones have issues with the cover peeling away from the homelink on one side, be sure to look for that on the ones you buy off ebay, they are probably bad ones that someone replaced.
(if you worry about that sort of defect)
They still work fine, just look bad on top. Black4drCTS 11-27-07, 09:29 AM would the cover pealign be covered under warranty? ewill3rd 11-27-07, 11:02 AM We replace them if the car came equipped with the feature. Black4drCTS 11-27-07, 11:23 AM Yeah but your in florida, im in st louis. the BBB has some serious issues with the caddy dealers around here. All of them have a negative rating. Not leaving a good taste in my mouth. ewill3rd 11-27-07, 02:24 PM Seems like I know someone down in St. Louis.
Did you ask Jesda if he knows of any good dealers around there, he lives in St. Louis. Black4drCTS 11-27-07, 02:56 PM I generally asked a couple of months ago, right after i bought my car, and no one responded lol. guinness 11-28-07, 12:46 AM Thx guys for great info!!! i will stop by this weak by dealership to find out how much is newone? If i buy it from dealership it should be cover by warranty, if it starts to pill off.
thx again a lot,
guinn ewill3rd 11-28-07, 06:58 AM New GM parts always have a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. Keep the receipt.
Usually the replacements don't do it. guinness 11-28-07, 08:51 PM amazing,
i went today to the store and new the sun visor with homelink is $260 bloody cells :o http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-Gentex-Homelink-Compass-Auto-Dimming-Mirror_W0QQitemZ180183787674QQihZ008QQcategoryZ336 99QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

That would take away the use of OnStar which he might not want to lose. Get a visor off of ebay with homelink. I'm thinking about doing the same because I refuse to manually program the one that came with my car when I can program my sister's 1999 Catera (homelink) automatically and in about 3 seconds. forgot about the onstar buttons....mine don't work since I've got a bluetooth kit installed....oh well, I tried. Wrestler07 11-28-07, 11:01 PM how do you like the BT? love it, works seamlessly with the radio mainly because no matter what it will take control of the speakers due to it running on the on* channel. So radio on/off fm/am ipod...it all works...theres a couple kinks in the system, seems to be centralized to me.....oh well, but ya I love it. Wrestler07 11-29-07, 07:49 PM Awesome to know Nikon. Thanks. guinness 11-29-07, 09:43 PM is there anyway of installing BT without disabling the OnStar. I don't wanna lose it. Sure is.
But the sound won't come through your stereo speakers, and the radio won't auto mute when you get a call. If you want those two things to happen onstar has to be disabled....sorry. guinness 01-04-08, 05:43 PM Guys,
i've got the visor's with homelink and i am trying to install it but i am stuck. Don't know how to remove the holder on right that holds visor. can you some tell me: does it just snap off or ?
thx,
guinn guinness 01-04-08, 07:41 PM i found it :) i guess with lil more light you are able to see more. There is little tab on holder, you open it and there is lil screw tarhe54 01-04-08, 08:55 PM Half the time my Homelink won't work and I have to resort to using the regular remote that I keep clipped to the visor.
And, while we're discussing visors, why didn't Cadillac install visors that would extend? hawkphotography 01-05-08, 12:03 AM Pardon my ignorance, but what is homelink? zeevert 01-05-08, 12:10 AM Garage door opener hawkphotography 01-05-08, 01:10 AM ahh, I see. Thanks! | |
