View Full Version : I looked at Maseratis today... Lord Cadillac 11-26-07, 08:51 PM There's a new Masarati dealership a mile from my residence on Okeechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach. In fact, there's just about every dealership you can imagine except for Cadillac - including Lamborghini and Ferrari.
Anyway. These cars cost around $130,000.00.. I'm really not that impressed.. Yes, they're freakin' hot cars on the outside. And the interiors are pretty cool looking. But they're not very comfortable. I do believe they intend on being more sporty than not - but the sedan is just nothing special. Certainly not worthy of a $130,000.00 price tag.
The interior of the coupe was perfect for what it was - a sporty luxury coupe. However, it just didn't feel right inside the sedan. The leather is hard and so are the seats. The wood is very nice. The suede headliner is very nice.. But I find it much more comfortable in the CTS, DTS or STS.
So if you're ever interested in a Masarati, it's not going to be very comfortable - but it certainly looks very nice... caddydaddy 11-26-07, 09:03 PM I don't think people buy sports cars for their comfort! It's either for the "look", or the true enthusiast who wants the performance.
They are sweet looking cars though! thebigjimsho 11-26-07, 09:17 PM Right...
Maseratis are comfortable. Like any great sports sedan, you don't have squishy seats. It may not seem comfortable, but you'll never have pains after long, intense drives. Lord Cadillac 11-26-07, 09:31 PM They seem to stress "luxury" quite a bit. They're not sports cars and sports sedans. They're luxury sports - like Cadillacs.. I just expected more... thebigjimsho 11-26-07, 09:44 PM Maserati has some of the bestest interiors in automotivedom... I~LUV~Caddys8792 11-26-07, 09:44 PM Sal, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. Maserati has always stressed sport over luxury, just like BMW has, except they've always been more aggressive. I've always thought of Maserati as the poor man's Ferrari or the Italian Porsche.
I love the new Quattroporte...it recently won a motor trend comparison test between that, the S550, Super V8 and LS600lH, because it was the sportiest and most fun to drive. Destroyer 11-26-07, 10:02 PM "Ah, Maserati, this one's much better than mine!".:suspect: Lord Cadillac 11-26-07, 10:05 PM Sal, I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. ...makes sense. I'd take the Lexus or the Mercedes over the Masarati. Then again, I'm not much of a Ferrari/Lamborghini guy either. I like luxury best... Playdrv4me 11-26-07, 11:02 PM Maserati Quattroporte's are going to make AWESOME used car buys. They have terrible depreciation because while they are Ferraris underneath, they dont have the badge. Destroyer 11-26-07, 11:16 PM Maserati Quattroporte's are going to make AWESOME used car buys. ....just like Cadillacs, but I bet they dont blow headgaskets!. Beating a dead horse.
Ian, I agree they will, but I've heard nothing but negative feedback about that "skyhook" suspension system, and apparently their race inspired manumatic is too racy for civilian use. Atleast in a veritable limousine. Any company that came out with the Biturbo is a joke... just as much as I think marketing a "four door coupe" is as well... Had I 100-large+ I can think of many different marques I'd plunk that kind of dough on... thebigjimsho 11-27-07, 01:17 AM Any company that came out with the Biturbo is a joke... just as much as I think marketing a "four door coupe" is as well... When you're working with volume you can afford a miss here and there... not from a "respected" sports-car niche-marque. Playdrv4me 11-27-07, 02:30 AM Compass...
Amen, brother.
Sadly, not currently on the newly revised roadmap for deletion :( gothicaleigh 11-27-07, 10:23 AM The Quattroporte is undeniably sexy. Arguably the best sedan design ever.
Versus the Recaros in my daily driver (BMW e30), those seats look comfy. Not as couch-like as my STS for sure, but I bet they require less effort to stay in them when cornering... that kind of physical motion that you never really think about is what causes fatigue on long trips. Cadillacboy 11-27-07, 10:51 AM No maserati thanx lol
Ghibli was the last one I liked thebigjimsho 11-27-07, 10:59 AM The new GranTurismo looks phenomenal! Me likey...
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2007-maserati-granturismo/ The Maserati Q is my #1 fav car, bar none. The Jag XJ-L-R Vanden Plas Super-8 is my #2.
When I win the lottery, I will have both. It's not about the seats, the feel of the leather, it's
all about the "aura" and the Panache` of it all. Drive into the Ghettos, all ya see are STS CTS
Bendzz, Beemers, Audis.....but, you never see a "Q" and very very very seldom a Vanden Plas Super-8.
When yiu do see them, they are driven by 3rd or 4th gen wealthy and are paid for with C.O.D.
They dot the estates and horse farms here in N.J. and drive around Wall St in NYC. YUvmkKS3f28
My 2nd favorite four door
