we call those people whackers in the crown vic community
i like the cars because they are tough as rocks and pretty quick Benzilla 11-26-07, 01:54 AM Damn. How???? Crown Vic Owner 11-26-07, 01:57 AM the guy said normally we gotta crush em because of the equipment, but i said i would remove it all
he said the 50 bucks was to get the sorta title, its not a title, its weird becuase its a gov. vehicle. the guy said normally we gotta crush em because of the equipment, but i said i would remove it all.
Weird. When the state has their auctions they sell old police cruisers. The stuff they take is the radio/lights/siren/antennas/push-bars. Everything else they leave on. My friend got a 2001 Crown Vic last year at an auction. He paid 500 for it. Put a new radio in it, front bumper, and had some body work/paint done on it and it looks brand new. Inside (where the cage was) he had it fixed as well. I think he came out around 2000 in total cost on it. Really cool looking car. He kept the black grille and black wheels w/ chrome centers on it. I have a 1/18 WTC memorial police cruiser. I showed it to him and he wants to turn it into a real life version and use it as a show car. He has to buy a daily driver first though. I think he is doing that this year or next year. Cadillacboy 11-26-07, 01:04 PM $1750 ? Where the fugg can I get a Crown Vic for $50?
I'd turn it into a track car. 96Fleetwood 11-26-07, 05:00 PM At the last Gov't auction I went to, Vics were going for $1,500-3K with under 100,000 miles.
I just don't get why 9C1 Caprices' bring more than that with almost 200K on the clock. Crown Vic Owner 11-26-07, 05:16 PM i know
the vic is way more reliable and durable (500k on a few ive seen that are running like champs)
Plus, i think the vic sounds better with a exhaust gdwriter 11-26-07, 05:19 PM At the last Gov't auction I went to, Vics were going for $1,500-3K with under 100,000 miles.

From what I've seen and read, most cops considered the LT1-powered 9C1 Caprice to be the ultimate police car, with more power and better handling than the Crown Vic. The new police-spec Dodge Charger might be today's top cop car.
I suspect many buyers want to make a pseudo Impala SS out of those Caprices. I doubt very many PI Crown Vics get turned into Marauders. Crown Vic Owner 11-26-07, 05:24 PM Chevy > Ford

the marauder and the vic is just odd
different motor, shocks, totally different beast
the 9c1 is a good cop car, but the vic is WAY easier to mod as pretty much any stang parts work/
I am not sure about handling mods, but the aftermarket for handling parts is way bigger as well 96Fleetwood 11-26-07, 05:26 PM the 9c1 is a good cop car, but the vic is WAY easier to mod as pretty much any stang parts work/
The Caprice is easier to modify in my opinion... any LT1 Corvette, Trans Am, Camaro, etc parts work.
I only had one 4.6 SOHC powered vehicle and that was a Town Car. Since my Fleetwood, I have been sold on the LT1 as far as modifying and reliability. I almost bought a '99 Vic with 103K, but went for my '94 Roadmaster with 58K for the same price. My_favorite_Brougham 11-26-07, 05:39 PM I doubt very many PI Crown Vics get turned into Marauders.

NOT REALLY
woah, caps
anyway,
the 4.6 has way more mod room and is cheaper than say, the caprice IMO.
Plus, good luck finding cheap caprice parts, 4.6 parts are a dime a dozen Destroyer 11-26-07, 10:48 PM I'll be attending some government auctions in the near future. Wonder if I can get a deal like that. I also wonder how hard it would be to put the drivetrain in a Miata. :lildevil: Crown Vic Owner 11-26-07, 11:43 PM I'll be attending some government auctions in the near future. miata
lol
HARD
if thats the case, if you want a ford 4.6, PM me for a really good engine builder who works outta his garage, but motors are ROCK solid
also, take a look for chewed steering wheels or picked at (means the car idled a shitload)
look for torn bumper covers
look for holes in seats (does not matter that much
and my favorite, look for a bent rear end I love Crown Vics. I don't know when the next gov't auction is, but I will make it a point to go. Last one was two years ago so there should be one coming up soon. I know when the sheriff's office and police department get new cruisers they have one coming up. They just got some new ones this summer so its probably coming up soon. I want one of those bad. That way I can save the miles on the CTS and Vette when I get one. Destroyer 11-26-07, 11:58 PM miata
lol
HARD
Miata is a damn fine car, and I'm not gay.:histeric: Crown Vic Owner 11-27-07, 12:25 AM I love Crown Vics. I don't know when the next gov't auction is, but I will make it a point to go. yep
and honestly, there easy to work on
check out crownvic.net and look around to look for defects on them.
There kickass cars. You can beat on them, and they take it.
Be warned, they love labor, little pissy shit like plugs, coolant, ya know, but generally dont fail.
If you dont mind working on your car a bit, maybe a few hours a month, these cars arnt bad, if you run to the mechanic for every noise, than stay away.
For the most part, its more reliable than a cadillac.
Just keep the oil changed, change the coolant often, keep the plugs changed (torque them to spec or they WILL pop, its a problem on mod motors mainly becuase of idiots), and keep the trans fluid changed religiously.
if ya got any questions, throw me a PM.
Also, i aint got nothin on miatas. They arnt that bad.
I DID drive a pink miata, but i was able to pick up more chicks in that than the caddy.
It was my aunts car.
Also, never ever ever EVER touch a ex cab. Try to get a vehicle that was a state patrol or a rural county.
you can pick up a 06 now for around 10 grand with 50k on it yep

Oh yeah, extremely reliable. Like I said on page one, my friend has one and its a good car, and I've helped him work on it. He, well doesn't baby it, but he treats it like a daily driver. Its got 160k miles on it and has never had a mechanical problem (not even the transmission). He's gonna make it into a World Trade Center memorial cruiser like the diecast model I have of it. I got a couple diecast Crown Vics. Pics!

Yeah, they do pretty good on the interiors. The auto art Crown Vics are a lot better. I forget who makes those cruisers, I've had them for about 2 years now. They are all over ebay though. I have two of those black ones. | |
