Well I'm back from my internetless Thanksgiving and I saw plenty of RWD Cadillacs out on the road and for sale. Folks must have been bringing them out for the occasion. ...That and I visited family on the South side of San Antonio where many folks are still driving them as beaters. I did have my camera phone, so I snapped away. Forgive the quality as I was in a hurry most of the time and people were staring at my like I were a thief! ...haha.., Well, here goes..
I went to Cracker Barrel earlier in the week before Thanksgiving and I saw this. The whole family just walked on in and didn't even notice this. :bonkers: Well I just like to fawn over these cars, so I did. It was a '92 d'Elegence 5.7L and was in pretty nice shape, but looked like it was being driven as a daily driver by probably the little old lady who bought it new. Looked real nice, but I've already said that. Yum..

Next was this triple black and tinted Brougham. Looked original and unaltered, which seems to be a hard find since these color combos are usually snatched up by modifiers first. I couldn't get too close, but it sure was a 'beaut to look at!

Next was this mint mint mint mint '83 Fleetwood Brougham with a very nice light blue/teal firemist and velour seats that looked sooooo comfy. The paper said one-owner and that no one had sat in the back seat ever! Only 60,somthing miles on here and always garaged. But it did have the ht4100 and was asking 2K for her. It was gone two days later when I drove by again. Oh she was clean clean clean, too. Another Yum!

Okay heres a '75 Deville that was a dark brown antelope-ish color with tan seats. Looked real clean in the inside and owner said the A/C worked, but who knows! Was asking 4K for her. Cadillac 500!

And the sadest story you'll ever hear... If you remember long ago I mentioned an '81 Fleetwood Brougham that my cousin's uncle hit a deer with. He was gonna give it to me for $250, but he unfortunately promised it to my vandel cousin who decided to take it. It was his father's car that he bought new in October of 1980. He died in '95 having only put 50K miles on it (he had another RWD '80 Deville that he and his wife drove too, and his place of work was literally a 30sec walk from his house). The car went to his son, my cousin's uncle who then promised it his nephew who was something like 10 years old at the time. Well he was not interested in it and my cousin's uncle offered it to me for $250 back in 2006. I prompty agreed, but when my cousin found out, he decided to take his uncle back up on the promise he'd made years before, just to spite me. He knew I liked Cadillacs of this vintage and did the following. Grrr...this makes me mad. The car was in mint mint mint condition, clean in and out, always dealer-serviced, and always garaged. The car had 50K miles on it when this happened. Everything worked immaculately including the CB radio and the power antenna. The engine ran flawlessly with the variable displacement 6.0L 368 engine. Only the grill had been knocked out by a deer and didn't even affect the header panel. Everything was mint!!
Well my cousin took it mud-trudging at 80-90mph in a field. Said he ran it into trees and over hills, just to see when it would stop running. Before he did this he took a circular saw to the roof and cut off the mint top, destroying the perfect vinyl and cutting the windshield and pillars. He beat the the doors off the car with a sledge hammer and crowbar-ripped the seats. Then when the car was barely in pieced he used it has target practice with 12ga. slugs, destroying all engine components. The A/C exploded, sending four pounds of precious r12 into the atmosphere. Then he axed the deck lid and hood off and fill the car with its own guts which he had fun running over with a four-wheeler. Then he dumped junk and a refrigerator in the car and strapped all the metal to the roof and hauled it off to the scrap yard for a recycling refund of $140. He even drove by where I was staying, just to rub it in. He knew I wanted this mint mint mint '81 Fleet, but he destroyed it and showed me. He did let me have the front and rear bumpers which were miraculously in okay shape. I think it was a "thats all youre gonna get" consolation sarcasm gift. If he wasn't the son of my aunt, I'd call him an SOB.:mad::mad: Remember this car was literally Barret-Jackson quality before this happened. He rolled a mint car out of the garage, and did this with his bare hands, on purpose. You can't blame mother nature or father time on this one; it's purely the savageness of man!! Those Canadians look like pampers compared to this!
This car was a pampered beautiful virgin maiden.........

This car was a gem from heaven...........

On a slightly lighter note, I did see a few other Broughams, though I did not take photos. I saw an '85 dark green firemist Fleetwood Brougham, but it was just a beater with tree-dents and body damage all over. The interior was shot though it had a new headliner. Had that cracked, hard leather like junk yard cars. At a 163,000 miles, there's no way I would have considered that ht4100 car. He was asking 2K for her. I don't think so.
Also saw a couple 90-92s going down the road that looked real nice. The car-collectors must have brought them out for Thanksgiving.
