Hi all.....I have enjoyed reading the forums so far..... I bought a 04 V about a month ago with a few goodies on it. Car runs and looks very well. Looking for some upgrades and I also have a few maintenance questions. The car has about 48k on it so 50g maintenance is comming up. I already called a local dealer and got a quote....... At 50k on the car what are the things I should be watching out for???... I know the clutch was changed at 25k(recall) and brakes @ 40k. I also want to slightly lower the car, I dont want to sacrifice ride as I have a bad back? I found these http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/stores/products?vendor_code=EIB&category_id=9c6b375d2c4341c8e2853e9b9776937e&session_id=ef0933c3dc28918ebe21b67610c18612 will they work or does someone have something better? Cost doesnt matter that much.. I'm sure I will have more questions later but thats it for now. Thanks

welcome from SWFL!

Become a supporting member and you will have some of the supporting vendors willing to help you with prices.
Here is the link. It is very reasonable and it helps all of us keep the forum in place and running good. Also you will be able to PM right away, instead of waiting till 50 post.

Thanks, I will consider it ....Although I may need more privileges than just being able to harass admin under 50 post :)

What is the stock shock on 04? anyone got a clue?

... Cost doesnt matter that much. ... Don't let Luke see that post!

Welcome, btw! I originally had the 500F/550R springs in my Ground Control lowering kit, and they really didn't firm the ride up that much IMO. I think you may find that kit and those spring rates to be acceptable given your back.

Car looks GREAT!

Have someone run the VIN or find out from your dealer if you have the FE4's or FG2's... either way the GC kit is the way to go

Join. Best money you can spend. I've saved 1000x the yearly cost, based on feedback & advise from other users. Without supporting members, no forum.

Anyway, start by perusing the FAQ. It will answer a lot of your questions.

Have a legitimate question, so please no flames...

I am a member on bimmerforums.com, mbworld.org, benzworld.org and a couple others. I have found just as much information (well not so much on the Benz forums, as no one does their own work) on these sites. They are all sponsored by vendors. Not one of them charges fees, nor do they criticize if you aren't a supporting member.

Now on the flip side of that, its $5 per month which is negligible and worth the cost for the information, just curious why there is a charge to begin with.

... just curious why there is a charge to begin with. Here? There isn't.

It's just that we're a community here (probably a fraction of the members compared to the sites you just mentioned), and we try to shake down anybody we can, then we share the loot. :D

Take a look at the ads on the right. Here there are like 10. Go over to LS1TECH, or other places, and there are like 100+. We are a small community which is growing. Currently you can only have so many vendors selling 22's to the escalade crowd. The CTS-V forum is definately the largest on this site, but with only about 10K cars made, the aftermarket and thus vendor/sponsor pool is much smaller than say a BMW 3 series board.

I'll leave further specutlation of others.
