I'm going to get rid of the auto leveling on my daily driver. I need to throw in some springs that are taller than the factory ones to keep the car from sagging. Anybody know if the spring out of a mid-80's caddy or a Buick Roadmaster would raise that ass-end of my car?

Impala SS springs should be a good match for your needs .

Impala SS springs are FAR from what you'd want for the rear--they're lower to begin with, and then being made for a Caprice, tend to let the Fleetwood butt sag further because it weighs more.

What you want to keep it level sans air shocks are either a set of fresher Caprice/Roadmaster wagon rear springs (they were heavy in the back already, and had heavier duty springs) or 9C1 cop car springs from a Caprice which are about the stiffest.

So...looking around, try a set of wagon springs.

I have 9C1 springs in the rear of my Fleetwood paired with Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks, works well in the rear.

What seems to quit first in the Auto-Leveling system?

Generally seems like just the shocks themselves. The compressors and such rarely seem to have an issue, and it's moreso the shocks combined with one or two small sensor, etc. pieces.

Our '93s have been out for some time (droops a bit, and just keeps running and trying to level with anyone/stuff in the car. My '95s actually worked flawlessly up until a month ago when it just randomly decided to start having issues. Doesn't seem to be as gone as the '93, but more like there's a leak somewhere because the last time I loaded it, it just ran a lot more than it used to and then after unloading did again--and I heard a hiss coming out of somewhere at the same time. Could be a line, a fitting, etc. or just a shock that went, not sure.
