I'm thinking of selling my new engine. I can get a heck of a deal on a new Z06. I only have 1,000 miles on my 408. What do you guys think? Should I pull the engine and sell it? Put a used LS6 back in. Of course they are offering a very low price on the V. So I thought I would just put a used motor back in the car.
What do you guys think???

Hey TXSilverV how much for the 408 if you pull the engine? Depending on how some stuff plays out in the next two or three weeks with the V and work I might be really interested.:yup:

Yes, you should post an asking price to guage interest.
Perhaps the engine can be sold on an exchange basis with someones LS6.

You will be tempting lot's of people "Luke Butler Style".

So what kind of deals are finally available on the LS7 Z06?

I'm not sure what to price it so I looked at the other forums to get an idea. So the complete motor with intake and all I'll ask $7,500 OBO
I can tell you I spent more than that but it seems to be the going price except those did not have an intake or Throttle body. This would be just plug and play per say. If anyone in DFW would like to drive it they can.

I don't think your ever gonna be happy with what you have.:duck:

Is it worth it to sell for that?
Don't you need to buy an engine to replace it?

If you could get the other V to the same shop as you and do a straight swap (with cash to you) I bet there would be some interest.
You could each pay your own labor or have the buyer pay your labor too.

That may work.
Heavy your right I'm never happy with what I have!

Although the Z06 is lighter, don't you have as much or more HP right now in your current V/motor ?

TXSilverV
11-23-07, 11:51 AM
I guess you correct about the HP. However it's the way it handles..and etc....
I'm going to drop the price today to $6,500 for someone in the forum to buy it. If your local you can come by and drive it.

Isn't there anyone looking for a V?

Buy this car and install the KW Coilovers and it should be :cloud9:

That engine sounds like a great deal too. :cool2:
A whole new engine for the price of a Maggie.

Kinda makes me wanna jump on a plain just to drive it. But,,,,then I'd probably want the whole car and have to sell my baby.

Guess I'll just sit tight.

Lots of Vs in Texas. If you can hold off till the right time, someone should snatch it up.

Yeah, details would help.

If one were to buy the engine, anything else required to complete the swap?

Iron block? How much heavier is it than an LS6? You wouldn't happen to know the weight, would ya?

Any reason you didn't go with a 90mm?

How much power is it putting down? You have a dyno chart available?

Hey Tx just MAAAAYBE i can get an ok from the finacial personas i will definatly be in cus i am interested. could my maggie fit on? if i bought it. is it the same intake as stock? are the intake ports the same?

TXSilverV
11-26-07, 06:23 PM
The maggie will fit as I used all of the LS6 intake. I was going to do a FAST 90 and TB but sort of got tired of spending money! LOL
The block is about 100 pounds more but I can't tell a difference.
Scotty the only thing you would need to do is change the cam as the one in it is wayyy to big for the blower. Let me know as I want to sell it ASAP as I have ZO6 fever. I want to go pick it up this week. When the new V comes out I will have the best of both worlds as the wifey said she is getting one for herself.

So are you going to meet up with us somewhere and let us see the Z06 ? :D

I'll even let you drive it!!!!

11-27-07, 10:57 AM
TX, how much power / torque was it producing? You have any dyno graph you can post or send me? Pictures?

Everything needed for installation included? If not, what else is necessary for complete installation? What PCM are you running it off of?

Are you still looking to sell the block? Or are you looking more to sell the car? I mean, if you sold the block, you okay on filling the void - you still have your LS6 to put in there?

TXSilverV
11-27-07, 11:39 AM
I have a LS6 with 60,XXX miles I bought on ebay that I'm going to put back in the car. They will give me more for my V with the stock engine.
Everything you will need will come with the motor.
I had a dyno done but there is no way that it's correct. It was 547RWHP/ 507RWTQ. It had 400+ TQ at 3,200 RPM. However there is no way that it was correct according to other people with 408's. They said it should be more like 470-490 with the stock LS6 intake/TB. I can get it done again some other place if you want.

I never drive a car I would have to talk myself out of buying. I hate the little chipmunk in your brain making you come up with ways to aquire it. Not eating for months on end, working massive overtime, etc, etc. :D

Where did you have it dyno'd ? (the new eng)

TXSilverV
11-27-07, 02:21 PM
HPP in Lewisville

TXSilverV
11-27-07, 08:17 PM
Ok! I'm pulling the motor out this week at HPP. I'm taking it by tomorrow. I'm going to drop it one more time as I really wanted someone from here to get the motor. So I will let it go for $5,500 and trust me that is a deal. So when they pull the motor I'm going to part it all off on Ebay.

ZEUSROTTY
