Ok, just got a call that the car is fixed and sounds great. About 3 weeks w/o Baby-V for a metallic "angry bees" sound coming from under the supercharger. Check out this link for background if you don't know:


Anyone want to guess what was causing the sound?

Hint: 2.5 hours installation labor and $40 in parts fixed the problem.

hmm-m-m . . . it really was bees and you had to call in Bee Removal Expert :histeric:

knutten valve was slightly stuck, creating too much back pressure and was "leaking" the pressure making the bee sound......Did I Win????

But, the hint is in the cost of materials. A belt? Gaskets?

Randy....you're a really smart guy......you're holding back, right??????Jimmy, I don't know. But, why would he need forty bucks in parts? Something toward the rear or underneath his maggie had to be replaced, and it couldn't have been part of the maggie since Magnuson rebuilt it. Now, the rear pulleys are really close to the firewall with a couple of wires and the fuel lines are back there. I hate to think a fuel line was involved. He also said that he recently had the knock sensors replaced. Was the valley pan touching the camshaft? Or did one of the wires from a knock sensor come loose and vibrate on something? Did a knock sensor not get tightened down? But, why would he be charged if he had it done (unless he took it to another shop for the repair). I'm just glad it wasn't the maggie afterall.

Oh, crap! I give up! :banghead:

Happy Turkey Day!!

...it was just a stupid header gasket. NOBODY thought that the horrible metal sound was header-related at the shop or at the dealership. They changed it b/c they were all out of ideas. Turns out a small section of the gaskets that come with the Kooks headers had blown out. I guess the stainless steel headers can make some crazy noises. It has some dead-soft gaskets in there now and all is fine. I want my 3 weeks w/o the V back!

So, the maggie was innocent all this time? No bees up her bonnet afterall? Is that right?

That's a relief and a bit of a vindication as to her reliability.

Sooo,,,is it a good thing that you got a free rebuild out of the Maggie? Or is it like a transmision, where if its in good shape, your better off leaving it alone?
