Since some say that these are hard to get, here is some info. Sorry if it has been covered before.

After several places could not offer WW tires for my FWB. I managed to get some Yokohama 'Avid' Touring with white walls today.

They claim very good mileage etc.

Despite the $ 74 web price my final deal was $204 for two -- fitted balanced etc..

Yep, the Yokohama Avids have been around for a while, and as selection of the right size in white wall has become limited, they're more and more popular.

At least they're a quality item, so it's no sacrifice in buying them.

When I got my FWB in late spring of 2006, I put a set of 4, Cooper Touring WSW on her. Rated to 118 mph. Look decent.
Out the door and balanced $400.00 and change.

Can you post a picture of them on the car? They actually look pretty good from the Yokohama site. How do they ride?

So far the ride has been excellent on dry, on snow, on ice on mud and at very high speed in the rain as well.
There is a bit of a whine, but I call it the "sound of safety." The Pirellis and Michelins I've had on other cars in the past all made similar sounds and held the road like glue.
I have no idea if prices have gone up in the year since I bought the tires.
Note also that the tires are rated for 118 mph and since the FWB is electronically governed to 108 mph I never thought that would be a problem. However, if you look back some posts ago, you will find that when we were taking one of our dogs to Tufts University Veterinary Clinic for a follow up to eye surgery and encountered a doped up trucker on the interstate, when he zigged to the far right shoulder, I zagged to the far left.
That's when I floored it and didn't look down at the dash until well past the idiot. That's also then the numbers 122 stared me in the face.
But for that short blast, no damage should have been done to the tires.
(But my limiter/governor is apparently busted)
I hope the photo comes through. I ran it thru the shrinking process.

I'm going with Yokohama 'Avid' Touring tires tomorrow. $400 mounted and balanced.

Bought the car with Vogues having about half the tread left but from what I can tell, they're more or less eight years old. Cracking on the side-wall and such.

I'd kind of like a wider white wall, and if you check out my other recent posts, you'll see I've done some talking/reseach on it. I'm thinking seriously of taking a chance and trying some white rubberized paint and painting mine up from rim to edge of the "white stripe" on the Avids.

I'll keep you all posted on it.

Yea, original to the car too. RPO code and all. ....and no road rash!!

Hell, for $1,300, that's almost worth thinking about flipping them off to subsidize other upgrades/mods/repairs. Not. Funny, though, that that's 1/5th the value of the car!!

Thanks for the props!!

Here's a neat article outlining three on-the-cheap methods for getting wider white wall tires. Anyone ever do this?

Thanks for that article. I really want to try this but I think I will be spraying mine, I don't like the visible brush strokes.
