Anyone ever use trifecta pcm tuning. Sounds interesting since you dont have to send in your PCM and fairly simple. Just curious as I would like to tune my PCM with out sending unit in.

Just curious as I would like to tune my PCM with out sending unit in. 96Fleetwood 11-18-07, 09:13 AM You can buy a spare PCM for around $60.00 Or if you email Anthony at Hardware@PCMperformance.com He can sell you a PCM with programming and ship it to you. He tuned my car in person at the ISSCA Nationals in St. Louis and my Fleetwood had never been better! Granted, we got to try several tunes and then hit the road to test them. longo 11-18-07, 11:10 AM If you swap PCM's dont you have to do a crank re-learn on your car as well? I was reading that a GM dealer will charge 80 bucks for this. 96Fleetwood 11-18-07, 02:45 PM I just unplug my battery and then swap the PCMs. v90hamm77 11-18-07, 03:58 PM Is a pcm tune required when deleting the air pump? 96Fleetwood 11-18-07, 04:29 PM Is a pcm tune required when deleting the air pump? Yes, I had mine re-tuned when I deleted the air pump. I also deleted my EGR and the second set of 02 sensors during the last PCM tune  v90hamm77 11-18-07, 05:00 PM Yes, I had mine re-tuned when I deleted the air pump. I also deleted my EGR and the second set of 02 sensors during the last PCM tune  What does deleting EGR and second set of 02 sensors do? Never heard of that!! Cadillacboy 11-18-07, 05:13 PM Yeah, that's news to me too ...BTW, my cats were deleted too . 96Fleetwood 11-18-07, 06:46 PM 1996 was the first and only year that has 02 sensors behind the cats, they do not affect performance, gas mileage, or driveability, only a pain when they go bad. Many guys on the SS forum found that deleting the EGR doesn't affect gas mileage and is better when running performance cams. I was paying for the tune right then and there, so I had him delete the EGR because I do plan on putting a mild cam this coming Spring. The downside to deleting the EGR is I can't run lower octane.. but I never did anyways since I have the 93 octane tune ;) v90hamm77 11-18-07, 07:01 PM I checked out trifecta pcm tuning and I'm go with that in the spring. Just deleting air pump, switcing to 93 gas, rear 02 sensors, and firmer shift points. Nothing major. If anyone else has something to reccomend please do!! Can't afford it right now, damn water pump and opti has to be replaced. | |
