: Pics Of my New MSD Coils installed

Just finished the job......detailed the allen screw heads with red paint.
Also purchased 16 spacers to keep the coils from touching the valve covers.

Whadda' think?????

looks good

I have to admit the red coils do look nice. I would be tempted to smooth up the FAST intake and paint it to really set things off.

Looks great.

Cook the crap out of them and carry one old coil to swap out.

I had two fail within days of the install.

They didn't like the engine heat and died when the motor got hot.

Good advice Heavy......how did you determine which coil was malfunctioning?

11-14-07, 09:23 PM
Pulled over and disconnected them one at a time (shut down motor, pull wire, restart motor and look for spark and maybe move wire to see if I could get a spark to jump).

Those MSD's throw quite a spark and I don't want to come across that sucker! YEOWWWWW!

Pretty obvious which one is bad as you get no spark.

Also, you can call MSD customer service and they will send you the spacers if you ask nice.

Very nice, they look better than mine mounted like that, also looks like they keep the wires straight. What spacers did you use and where did you get them?

A dozen (or so) trips to ACE Hardware. They are steel 1/2 inch spacers....$1.47 each......then I cleaned them, dried them and spray painted them black.

Thanks for the compliment.

Looks good, makes me realize how dirty my FAST is.

Very nice! I want to see in person!

Have you hit the Pavilions yet?

What's the seat of the pants impresion?
I'd have a tough time deciding if I really want to put my valve covers back on.

Was it easy changin out the throttlebody, merely plug and play or did you have to recalibrate the PCM?

11-15-07, 09:47 AM
Naf - - Katech installed the throttle body and recalibrated the PCM. Made much more HP.

Twitch - - No seat of the pants difference....didn't expect any difference. I have a friend who is a GM at one the MSD divisions and he explained the only thing these coils will do is PREVENT a misfire vs the stock factory coils. Yes, they DO have higher voltage, and they do a "double-shot" (milliseconds apart) of spark each time they fire......shouldn't really increase power. I just like the "tricked out" look they provide.

Stageup....email me at: piaggiopilot@gmail.com and we'll get together soon.
