:banghead: Well, some stupid punk(s) in a work truck stopped at the top of the on-ramp to the expressway. Wife was stopped behind them waiting for the truck to move when the truck apparently either lost the gears or the clutch slipped and started to roll back . Right into the STS. 3/4 of a way up to the windshield... Truck then lurches forward, stops about 10 yards in front of my wife , then just leaves the scene like nothing ever happened.....:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Wife has ADD.. So she "forgot" to call the police and no witnesses stopped to help..

We are screwed.... And I'm PISSED.:bomb:

Tore the hood up 3/4 way/ drivers fender is bad, right side front bumper is ripped and pushed at a werid angle, and the front grille is cracked.

Do not know yet if it's totaled. Will get pictures later....

Too pissed to deal with it right now,.....

Oh wow man, sorry to hear that. But on the plus side, at least it wasn't her fault.

WTF is it with people and running from accidents?! Especially when they're in a truck that's owned by the business they work for!!

Good luck!

Oh my.. that really is horrible news! Such a fine car...

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how ADD would prevent her from calling The Man though...

ADHD.. Will cause you to shift from one thing to another... and not finish what you started. You have to understand she is 35 and has just been diagnosed with this... She is not on meds yet... Plus she thought since the guy left "What where the Cops going to do? Beat a dead horse". It was dark, no description, no tag no. nothing.

Belive me I was MAD that the cops were not called. Even more pissed at the thought this is going on OUR insurance , I have to pay the deductible, and all this was not even her fault.

I'll try to get pics tomorrow. It's dark out right now.

And Jason... No, it did not get to the A-pillars Basically just the front end. Air bags did not deploy, and no mechanical damage I know of yet.

I just had a 97 Eldo totaled for a wire harness. The car was in great shape. The owner says pristine shape. it had 118K and Worth less than $3k. Gearheaad43 be careful they give you what it is worth or the cost for repairs.

Is your wife okay otherwise, sir? I wish her a speedy recovery, and to you, I hope you settle with these punks.

Jason,

No It was 3/4 of way up the hood concentrated on the drivers side.

AJ. Oh I'll be sure to get atleast what I paid. That car has LOW miles. I did find some good used GM parts in Penn. for $600 shipped.. (hood, drivers front fender, front bumper, grille) Same Polo Green color . We will see what my insurance and the body shop will do.

93Deville.. She is fine.. Just pissed that the people ran off..

For you that are wondering .. She doesn't know if it was a work vehicle or not .. There was no company name on it... (Sucks eh?).. But from what she told me It appears it was a dark colored DUALLY Pickup

Update:

Just heard back from the Body Shop. The damage is purely cosmetic with the exception of the internal bumper struts. (They were bad) The estimate round up to $4000.00 in damages........ And they DID NOT TOTAL IT!!!!:yup::yup::yup::cookoo: Crazy I know, But I guess they saw the excellent condition the car is in both mechanically and cosmetically, and decided to spare it's life....:halo::halo:

So .. A brand new front end;) and more deappreciation on the value.....:(:mad2::ill:

Update,

STS is still in the shop 11/27/2007.... Body Shop Manager is saying they are having a HARD time finding good used parts they can work with. So they have started to go with NEW GM PARTS... Geez... This is going to wind up costing them a lot... Insurance Company right now is going along with what the body shop is recommending. They have located a NEW hood and fender. Still searching for the bumper and Grille.... I told them finding a NEW STS grill is going to be a tall order... Unless they go for the NEW grilles listed on eBay for $275 a pop....

Damn that sucks terribly. You know how I feel about repainted stuff. Im not worried about the parts, make sure they do a good job on the paint matching.

Update 11/29.07

They did it! Got all the NEW parts and they almost stripped the entire car down for a repaint. They are awaiting new rivets which hold the door mouldings in place. ( Blended the paint into the doors). As soon as they arrive, (Midday today) they will finish it up...... I'm not worried about the repaint has those guys at this Body Shop do show cars and they know what they are doing.... They DO NOT tape shit off... They take parts OFF before painting. There will be NO tape lines or anything of that nature. They should be sanding/buffing and doing the final detailing as I am writing this post. I will probably stop by this afternoon to go over the STS with them in case they miss a couple items. The Caddy will surely be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon.

Playdrv4me

Make sure they color sand the door and panel edges, even the "good" places forget to do this and its such a dead giveaway. Its a quick and relatively painless thing for them to do.

Gearheaad43
11-29-07, 07:33 PM
OK I'll keep an eye out for that. Thanks. Well I had to work OT today. Grrr. SoI did not get the chance to get to the shop to observe what they have done. They did call and tell me that it WILL be ready for pick up tomorrow. So I guess I'll head up there during my lunch break to see if there is anything that needs attention before I pick up in the late afternoon.

'Bout time I get that STS back!

Gearheaad43
12-01-07, 08:22 PM
Picked it up late yesterday afternoon. Looks great aside form the used headlight with huge rock chips in it and the right side of the bumper cover under the headlight which needs more touching up done to it. They did a GREAT job. I'll have to bring it back once the insurance gets the new headlight, And the shop will redo the bumper cover. At no charge.

And yes they gave me a lifetime warranty.

You don't wax fresh paint, it needs to cure at least 30 days.:thepan:

Gearheaad43
12-30-07, 12:24 PM
Wrong... 90 days....

You can buff it with polish before the 90 days is up.. But you can not use wax... Takes time for the paint to cure.. I've heard 30 days before, but fact is MOST good Body shops advise to wait atleast 90 days.

And YES I just got done buffing her before I took those pics... I waxed the 3/4 mid front doors all the way back and the roof only for now. In 3 months the front gets buffed again with a fresh coat of WAX....

clarkz71
12-30-07, 12:26 PM
I agree, when I said 30 days that's a minimum from my experience in the business.

STS needs to research more before posting.
