I need some input...is it worth buying an alldata membership, and how informative is it?

If you intend to keep the car for a while, get the 3 year deal.

There is so much info you'll use the site as a ready reference for just about anything you need....TSB's, vacuum, electrical, diagrams, line drawings, specs, capacities, time/rate sheets, repair/replace how-to, you name it..........

I use it for both the car and truck.

ALLDATA cost bucks, if you need service info for more than just one car, like for many different cars, then price it out and possibly you might want it. If you need service info for one or two specific cars, then get the factory service manuals, you'll be miles ahead cost wise.

???? A 3 year ALLDATA subscription for 1 car is around $45, 2 cars $70 (??) I forget.

A Helm FSM for an '02 Seville series (2 volumes) is $135 + shipping, 2 vehicles, around $285.

Last time I figured it, $70 is somewhat less than $285.

The FSM's do not include updates, TSB's, rate sheets, parts prices, recalls, and individual service notes. ALLDATA does.

I'm not defending either reference source, as I have both.

I just renewed for the 3 year. I think I read in there somewhere that the 3 yr was transferable between vehicles in the event that you sold the car or something.

They are not always 100% correct but it's very very useful. For instance when I looked up the torque spec for my lug nuts, AllData said 80 lbs and the manual says 100. Good thing I looked.
