Is there a way online for a consumer to input a GM VIN and get a list of the RPO option codes?

I've heard the dealer can pull these up but is there a place for consumers to do it?

No. You can find out basics as far as year, model, engine, but that's it, on your own.

You need either to go direct to a dealer OR have one of the dealer's here (hopefully they'll chime in) take your vin, check it in the system, and copy/paste the data back over to you. A lot of people have gotten it the second way.

You just can't get it on your own, with any site, etc.

All your RPO codes are on a tag on the bottom side of the spare tire cover in the trunk.

That works great except for when the car is locked up in storage 1200 miles away (which happens to be this particular situation).

I didn't ask "where are the RPO codes found on my car" but thanks for telling me anyway. :halo:

I took a snapshot of the tag on my car with a digital camera and keep it in the stand alongside my La-Z-Boy.

I'm sure you did. If the guy selling this car had done the same he could have sent the complete options list out much quicker.

Very interesting informations !

My car has still its tag, like new,but how can I do to translate codes to know the options ?
I know a great man, who worked for GM in Europe, he has replied me that it is impossible to know it, because my car is not on "GMVIS", it is a 1993 model, too old...

If you have the list of codes (from the order sheet, door jamb, glovebox, etc. wherever they might be on that particular car) you can search to find a website that lists each code and what they represent.

Like this (just an example):

All your RPO codes are on a tag on the bottom side of the spare tire cover in the trunk.

Short narrative description can be found in factory service manual.

If you go to the dealer that sold you the car they can input your vin and come up with wht they call a "build sheet' that lists all the RPO's installed on your vehicle.
