I found a fifth wheel and I installed it the backup lights work the manual drop works but I have one problem the electric drop won't. I'm assuming its gfrounded correctly cause the lights work. I plugged it up to a 12v connection and got nothing not even a spark. What is the correct fuse rating for it and what am I doing wrong. I know its supposed to be wired with the trunk pop system but I was going to wire it to a relay so I can drop it with the trunk or without so why doesn't it work?

Sorry about that some people refer it to a fifth wheel. I was talking about a contiental kit. The decorative tire that sits on ur bumper

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere in the bracket/solenoid wiring. No spark no 12v.

So if its a bad ground how come the reverse lights work . The bolts I used to connect the kit are steel and the bumper has no paint on it but the kit has black paint where the bolts go . Which is weird cause the lights work. What's your suggestion

Thanks submariner409 you were right it wasn't enough ground for the pop release . I had to scrap away more of the paint from the wheels bumpers end.

Good catch. I wondered if the wheel package has its own ground wire in the wiring harness so you could hook it to a solid ground in the trunk.

Well I would think that too but it doesn't. For example when I was testing the lights I was having problems getting them to work so I removed them from the kit hoowked it up to a 12 volt and the back casing for the light is metal and it worked when I used that as a ground so I was taken under the assuption that the kit will be grounded by the bumper since its attached to the chasis but it didn't work for the release but it worked for the lights so I had to add a ground from the car to the kit. I grounded the kit and it worked. But the stock harness for the kit has 3 wires but they are seperated 2 for the lights and release so I don't know it worked;)
