I'm interested in getting a used CTS-V sometime. What problem areas should I be aware of - including suggestions about the rear end? What year do you think is best?

Clearly the LS6 years 04 & 05 are the best. :yup:
I had both.

Personally I prefer the 04's.
Mainly because you don't get the annoying seat belt nag.
Also, I like the roof antenna on the 04's better.

I thought 04 build quality was as good as 05.
I had no issues with my 04, beyond some typical service bulletin procedures.

For lowering and big meaty tires on the back, a 2004 (or super early build 2005) has the advantage with its rolled rear fenders.

04!
Hell, any year was a good year for the 1st gen CTS-V.
Just think, when the 09 is out we'll talk about the good o'days.

The 2004s are the rarest of all the CTS-V years (production numbers wise) and they are the coolest, why - because I said so!!! :stirpot:
