My throw out bearing is bad and it needs to be replaced. Does the throw out bearing from a Corvette work? Ours is a dealer only item and has to be ordered. My price as an employee is $260. The one for the corvette zo6 is $135 and in stock. I want my car back today so can I use the one from the Corvette?:banghead:

have you tried to check with aftermarket clutch kits. they might have a better throw bearing then stock.

I have not checked but that sounds like a good idea!

With the new powerplant, was a CTS-V specific input shaft pilot bearing used?

Yes! Was that wrong?

No. You did good.

Which clutch are you running?

I used an LS7 clutch and flywheel, but now since it only made it 42 miles I'm going to put my Spec stage 3 back in the car. The LS7 clutch and Flywheel are still good and still looks brand new so I hope I can sell it. Wish I could take it back to the dealer but I'm sure they won't take it back.

why did it only last that long? I may be willing to buy it from ya.... Can anyone chime in with whatever else i need? Or any problems that i may encounter?

My throw out bearing was bad. It only has 42 miles on the clutch and flywheel. My car is about 575 RWHP with the new motor. I had a dyno done and without a tune it was 550/515. I'm putting my spec stage 3 back in the car as I'm not sure the LS7 can handle that much. Let me know if you want it. Also for anyone who cares the Throw out bearing from a Corvette will not fit. So much for that idea!

Trust me I know...I've gone through the slave, wrong bearing & throwout etc. and got toasted....

Pretty good numbers - was that on a 408ci?

I give up!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate this F-car. I pulled the LS7 since the throw out was bad and installed a spec stage 3 drove it 4 miles and now the clutch pedal will not go down. This is the fourth time this car has broken down on me in the middle f the freaking road. I'm selling my built 408 and selling the car. So I will have the engine, spec 3, ls7 clutch, cross drilled rotors, and misc parts up for sell by the end of the week. This has been the worse/best car I have ever owned. Maybe I will calm down later but at this time I'm just pissed and sick of this car.

Damn Davin that sucks, you are so close just stick it out man. I'd be interested in parts but I'm knee deep in my next project 53 Ford pickup so my V is taking a back seta for the winter.

Why not go with a proven bolt-in solution like the UUC FW and stock clutch?
The stock clutch is not that weak.

I have the Luk "Pro Gold" clutch/FW combination that Mallett sells and it's holding the power.
It slips a hair on hard shifts but definetly holds for in-gear pulls.

Both of these use straight bolt-in flywheels w/o any adapters or other wierdness to mess up.

Prices are good also.

The stock clutch could not handle the power and it is already in the trash. That is why I'm so pissed as this is my third clutch in two months. For the first three miles I thought the spec was the answer. I'm calm now! I'm not sure what could have happened this time since the clutch is stuck in the up position. Anyone have an idea? I did look at the fluid level and it was fine, however I did see two bubles come up so could it just need to be bleeded again or does it sound like this clutch is gone???

Okay, which bearing are you talking about? The throwout bearing/slave? Or the pilot bearing? The throwout bearing on these cars is mounted onto the slave itself. It isnt a seperate piece like on other LSx vehicles.

Stealth,
Ok you asked me about the input shaft on which one I used. I thought that is what the shop used. Well make a long story the spec 3 only made it 4 miles. The broken part was the slave (throw out) again. The first one broke with the LS7. I asked the shop about the input shaft and they said they used the one it came with. So would that be the one that the 408 came with? If so can it be fixed to work? Is the input shaft in my old ls6 the one that is needed? Please tell me this is easy to fix. This is getting to be a pain and way to much money.
