Hello everyone!! I'm new here and just wanted to say hi. I bought an '05 CTS yesterday and I'm pumped. The car is fantastic so far and I'm loving every minute of it. It has the certified warranty so I can't mod the engine but I'll be doing what I can. It's very nice to be a part of such a great community of people. I look forward to chatting it up with all of you.

PS I have a great 92 Eldorado if anyone's interested.

I can't mod the engine or exhaust or anything due to the warranty, I'd like to mod the stereo and possibly put navigation in and then tint and wheels of course but that will take some time and $$$$. I'll try to get some picks up here when i have a chance.

Yeah i forgot to mention the chrome tips on the exhaust, I will do that too and that link for them on ebay looks great, i might order those today. The Navigation worries me because of how integrated the stereo is in these cars but I"ve been looking around on here and see that it is possible.

You shouldnt have probs with the nav. There are writeups and lots of people here can help you :)

What is the difference between a "certified" warranty and just buying a used Cad with time/mileage left on the original factory warranty?

you did screw up by not getting a certified 2006. You are still under warranty from the factory but certified warranties on used cars are 6 years from the original sale date i believe ofr 100,000 total miles, whichever comes first. This will usually add on an extra 2 years to the factory warranty which is might nice.

Why did he mess up?

He said he bought a certified pre-owned 2005 CTS. That would give him 6 yr 100k miles bumper to bumper. Who cares what the powertrain warranty was originally?
A 2006 CPO CTS would still get 6 yr 100k miles bumper to bumper.

So naturally the 06 has one extra year of warranty over an 05. Not a "screw up".

Now if it hadn't been a CPO CTS, that's different.

He said he didn't get the CPO. I"m the original poster that did get the CPO and I said that he screwed up by not getting it.
