If there was...how do you find out which one you have?
Which one is better?;)

There is a VIN "Y", 275 hp, and a VIN "9", 300 hp. Depends on whether you have a base Deville, DHS, or DTS. I believe the code is character #8 in your VIN. Neither is "better". Depends on how you drive and your perceived impressions of "performance". They're the same engine with slightly different intake cams, final drive ratios, and PCM tuning (Trying to change one without other work is futile).

I prefer STS engine VIN 9 due to more performance despite less low end torque

Ah, yes. But we're not talking about STS engines !

Look at his header.

The base deville engine (275hp) actually has better low end power, so the only time you will miss the extra 25 horses are when your going faster than you should be.

You'll also see about 2-3 better MPG than the "Y" engine due to the different final drive associated with it.
