Whats up guys I got a couple questions I need help with.

I recently bought my dads company car for 14,000. Pretty good deal I think. Its the Cadillac CTS 2005 3.6l. I was talking to my friends about it and they convinced me to turbocharge it since I have extra money. If you guys could post which turbo would be the best that would be great. Who better to ask then you guys.

lol turbo on a CTS :histeric: ... ok now that thats outta my system, ur best bet would be a custom fab job .. piping, intercooler, and turbo set-up (maybe even rods/pistons to lower c/r) ... noone makes and poweradders for our car, don't ask me why, i think theres a great market in it ... theres a couple members here who have successfully juiced there cars (nitrous), aswell as supercharged the 3.2L cts ... but it wasn't until recent that the ecm for the 3.6 was cracked and is now able to be tuned, good news for u is that was the first step to forced induction for us ... if u have the funds anything is possible, i've been looking into this myself but alot of dead ends .. if you do happen to find something please feel free to post it up, that would mean a whole new world of opportunites for the 3.6, including but not limited to blowing the doors off the new 335i/g37 and smackin the hell outta a V ...

It hasn't been done yet and I have it in my head since a long time, but you could try to fit the turbo of the 2.8 turbo V6. It should fit, because it is basically the same engine.
I could help you trace it, since the 2.8 turbo is on the Cadillac BLS in Europe, the Saab 93 Aero and the Opel Vectra and Signum. I am also interested, so we could share the knowledge and sources?

Holden already made a TT36 in the Torana concept last year. Based on 'our' 3.6 and the dual Turbo of the 2.8.

Anticipate some problems with your ECM which won't like your turbo. Using Eldo's idea may allow you to use a euro ECM? It will be VERY expensive and will void your warranty. Maybe you should consider NOS.:nox:

Brentman has done it on the 3.2. He may even sell his system since he's selling his CTS to get a Hummer.:D

with the ecm cracked thanks to HP tuners you can now add a turbo or supercharger to the system. the problem before was that the stock fuel map had no idea how to deal with boost. now you can program it so it can.

:welcome: to the forum...

It'll most likely take megabucks & lots of trial & error. Still no guarantee...

You'll be exploring uncharted waters, boldly going when no man (or woman) has (successfully) gone before & all that...

For a (relatively) cheap thrill, as rblimas mentioned, laughing gas is probably your best bet....

well its not totally true
there does exist a supercharger kit for the ly7 (3.6L), problem is..you have to import it
capa makes a kit.
http://www.capa.com.au/kits_holden_vzv6.htm

you would need all the parts.. and then have the car tuned to take the supercharger.

lets see fast numbers:
the low system at 4,995 australian dollars (or 4,579.96 US dollars)
is 265kw at the top. so thats what..
265 kilowatts = 355.370854 hp
ummm not bad for the little engine that could.

so thats 355 hp over our massive powerband.. yeah. not bad.
those numbers are at the crank though (just like our stock rating of 255 hp is at the crank), pitty I wonder what it is at the wheels... hey wait a minute.. a dyno sheet.. showing 190kW at the wheels.. lets do some calculations.. lets see.. thats 254.794197 hp at the wheels

Hey bud yeah I have an 03 and I have a wet nitrous kit on mine....however it is a totally different engine than yours but yeah I love your idea. Problem is that finding manifolds will be impossible unless you make them yourself. So here are your choices.......

1. http://www.ststurbo.com/ buy a kit from STS and have Big 3 tune it
http://www.big3performance.com/home.asp?id=1 They are the only ones that tune the 3.6 VVT

2. Do a custom turbo from a speed shop and pay out the a$$

3. Do a supercharger!!!!! Contact a forum member "Nels" and he can fabricate a bracket for it and he can send u in the right direction on what to use ( I think its a vortech V2 T-trim counterclockwise rotation) And once again i reccomend http://www.big3performance.com/home.asp?id=1
for the tuning
but if you have friends that can tune maybe they can work somthing out

here is my nitrous system ftw

Are there any plans to hack the 3.2 computer, because building a Turbo setup is fairly straight forward. Yes, it can be expensiv, but I can weld and fabricate, so no prob here making manifolds or custom headers.....

u know since the last time u said that i've actually been looking for specs on the 2.8 turbo because that would seem to be the most logical way to go but all i've been able to find is its a mitsubishi turbo but i forgot the size/trim ... i haven't been able to find a system for sale/import either ...

also what were the disadvantages of the remote mounted STS universal system again? only because if its possible for someone to custom fab the piping for it i wouldn't mind trying it out if i could get a good price on it w/o it having significant drawbacks ....

most incredibly with mods and turbo ur probably looking at an increase of anywhere from 125-200+ hp ... a cts appearing stock from the outside with a set-up like that under the hood would def gain notice from the m3/import supercar fanboys ... i wonder how the diff would hold up then :bigroll: ?!

I do not think there is enough space under our cars.

You would definitely need to upgrade the rearend.

I SOOOO want to do a Twin Turbo 3.2.

10-26-07, 05:01 PM
Forced induction is entirely possible for the 3.6 now. This is because the ECM has been cracked.

Bob- there are no longer limitations becuase of the ECM. How do you forget this so easily?

I dont know what kind of room a turbo setup would need.

The main problem is if the differential will hold up, which it probably wont.

Forget about the 3.2 ever having the ECM cracked fellas.

You are obviously not very familiar with STS Turbo. Visit their website and you will "get it".

I will never give up the hope that someone would hack a computer.:histeric:Are you nuts?

I know exactly what that setup is! Do you know who youre dealing with? :thepan::highfive:

AHAHAHAHAH

I been here for a long time brother and i can almost guarantee that the 3.2 ECM will never be cracked. No demand for it so theres no reason for anyone to spend the money to figure out unlocking it.

You get over yourself!

PS- I put in more work in getting the ECMs hacked than anyone here. I used to have a 3.2 so I do have sympathy for you guys. I fought my ass off to get the 3.2 cracked. unfortunately, it never happened nor will it ever happen.

Ahhhhh well theres always a way around the ecm. 54 try looking up a self running Fmu. If you want Hp dont let anything ,or anyone stop you boss anything is possible;). (Now that i got the Dr.Phil moment out of me )
Nick is right as far as noone wanting to crack the Ecm For the 3.2.We have the orphan motor, but got to toot the 3.2L's. There are a few orphan motors that can spank the 3.6,and then some(::cough:: Nels,Luv, and o3) , but thats only until someone gets the welbos to do something for the 3.6, And when ,and if that happens there will be a shootout sooner or later.

Bored at work, and its about time people start talking about performance , seeing the same damn posts get boring after a few. :D:hide:

Yeah, it's different - on-line baseball simulation game based on actual real-time statistcs from major league games... Folks set up their own team, make trades, lineup decisions, inning by inning decisions, etc., for a full 162 game season... Bit much for me...

As I understand it, it originated in Grass Valley, CA...

Damn good find, Kael! What is the difference between the VZ and the VE V6 3.6? You also need the ECU Piggy Back, Fuel Pump and ECU for about an additional $1,500 AD. What kind of exhaust upgrade do you need for the kit?

It would fit in our CTS. Although, if I could manage to find a source for that dual-top-mount turbo of the 2.8, it would even be a more snug fit. Don't rely on me as I am a busy man, but I will post my findings!
